Book of Life

Let me do it with some questions:
  • Is God not Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent...all present past and future, all knowing and all powerful?
  • Being all these would he not know who would be saved in the future during the begining?

God is the three O's, but if certain people were chosen even before they were born then why preach and teach the gospel. Why spread the Good News if God's got it handled.

  • Again, you can't confuse our world (physical) with the world of God's realm (Spiritual)
  • I didn't say God manipulated the future, you still need to hear the message and make your free will choice.
  • Remember he gives you everything as a gift, it is still your choice to receive the gift or not!
  • God's just simply has the power to know who chose him or not by faith.
  • A man still has the opportunity to go to hell if he wishes!

Doesn't God manipulate the future by prophesying what will happen?
What about all the enemies in Psalm 83 or Ezekiel 38-39 war.
Do they have free will, or did God choose them to be born in a certain time?

ATP, these scriptures have nothing to do with Lamb's Book Of Life. I responded to the aspect of the book and when man was put into the book. I have my beliefs about the book and you have yours. God Bless you spiritual growth!

  • Not if it something man did that he had, for him, instant foreknowledge of.
  • Nor something he had preordained to occur in the future.
  • If you don't understand these things, I kindly suggest you study them more! :)

And since man does have a choice, we are only written in the book of life upon salvation Rom 10:9-10. God Bless.

  • I like to use Romans 10: 8-13
  • Yes, when you choose by faith and receive God's free gift of Grace and Salvation, your name is put in the Lamb's Book Of Life, which God has the power to know who is in the book from the beginning of the Universe!......that is why he is called am Awesome God!

Before the foundation of the world!
Would you say that salvation was possible before the cross?

Was Abraham saved? Noah? Isaac? Joseph? David? Enoch? Barak? Were they before "the cross".
I believe there were some (a few ) that received salvation by the old law before Jesus came.
Surely we can't say no one was ever saved before Jesus came.

Are infants saved? Can they sin if they aren't old enough to know what sin is? Before they reach the age of accountability for their actions?
If so, are they in the book of life?

But then we all reach the age of accountability, and we all sin. What happens then? Are we removed for "a while"? Until get saved? Then added back in?

I think during Jesus Transfiguration, the appearance of Elijah and Moses is definite proof of that!

  • I think Jesus was clear about children belonging to heaven.
  • I don't see anything in scripture that says children go in the book, some how they are treated differently.

I believe a person is placed into the Book of Life when they receive the Holy Ghost.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Could a person be saved at all under the law?

Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Does a person have to have the Spirit to be considered saved? Even in the Old Testament?

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

NO, I am saying that salvation was exactly determined before the cross. Stop thinking secular/physical and think spiritual and the spiritual realm. You don't think God has the power to know who was saved before it happened????
Yes, I do believe God knows who will be saved. I also believe that everyones name is put in the the book of life before the foundation of the world. The only way it is taken out is if you refuse what Jesus did on the cross. Salvation does not put your name there...rejection takes it out.

What are you trying to say. I'm confused.
I believe God wrote everyones name down in the book of life from the foundation of the world. I believe when we reject Jesus we are taking out of the book. Most people (and I was taught all my life) that we are placed into the book of life at salvation. I can not find that in scripture...that we are placed in the book of life when we are saved.
Look at Luke 10:17 (before the cross) Jesus tells them to be glad their name is written in heaven.
David ask God not to take his name out of the book.
Moses said talking to God...If you are going to blot their name out take mine out also.
These people were already in the book...before Jesus died on the cross.

I have answered this...yes! But NOWHERE in scriptures does it say your name is first written in the book of life at the time of salvation.

The Cross is not bound by something as silly as time and space!

Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Please show me in scripture where our names are written in the book the moment we are saved. My Bible says they are written from the foundation of the world.

Where in the above scriptures does it say your name is written in the book of life?

The Only way children are in heaven is because they are in the book of life!

Is there somewhere in scripture that says this? I have not come across it?!? I see we are in the book of life from the foundation of the world that includes children!

Let me ask you this, Grace? When exactly does "rejection" cause one to have their name blotted out of the Book of Life? Not until they die or the very first time they do not "accept" Jesus, or what?
