Hello, my name is Kimberly Russo and I have some anxiety/scrupulosity problems but have gotten over them slightly but I need to talk to someone who really knows the Bible and can answer some of my questions and give me some advice and help. Thank you.

I know the bible pretty well. What I dont know I can usually find out fairly quick thru asking God to show me and studying in my bible and reference material and would be happy to offer any assistance I can. There are several others on this forum as well that from reading their posts I feel confident to say know scriptures well and are good at giving advice that has biblical principle and foundation. What questions do you have?

Without even hearing any of your questions I would like to say I have had a very difficult life and seen many hardships and God has helped me thru many of them and one verse particularly God gave me was this one: 2 timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

the words "sound mind" are translated from the greek word sophronismos and this is what I have in my digital copy of strongs:
σωφρονισμός
sōphronismos
so-fron-is-mos'
From G4994; discipline, that is, self control: - sound mind.

I have a study note on it that shows this: the word is from the roots sos, which means safe and phrene, which means the mind hence safe-thinking. the term denotes good judgments, disciplined thought patterns, and the ability to understand and make good decisions. It includes qualities of self control and self discipline.

This scripture helped me make it thru some very rough spots in life. I learned that when I dont look to whats in my head but instead I look to whats in the bible and when I lean on the Spirit of God in me and thru me and I pray on whatever is troubling me God helps me thru it. It also takes considerable discipline to restructure your mind. or maybe re-train is a better word to use.

I would like to recommend to you to look into some faith based counseling. Sometimes its good to be able to talk to someone face to face about problems and there is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Thank you, I have really desired to get some counselling but I'm not sure if I can because I don't have health insurance and my parents are highly convinced that I have a spiritual problem or am just being attacked by the devil

First be welcome to TJ Kimberly Russo!
Hope that TJ will be a help in your growth in the Lord!
Read your testimony! Loved it and not only because I'm living in Delaware :)

Always remember, once your His, you are His forever! He has you signed sealed delivered so to speak :) Ephesians 1:13

In your growth, remember that you have the perfect guide already in you! (Holy Spirit) John 14:26

Prayer, study of His Word are most important. You're young so the desire to know everything right now, is pretty much written in your DNA. :)
If I hadn't joined the military at your age, I'd probably won't remember how I was, especially since it's way way way, long time ago..............It's a tough impulse
to rein in. Always remember it's to His purpose. (Romans 8:28, 2 Timothy 1:9)
My wife puts it this way. "Yes, No, Not Yet"

I would tell you patience, but if you are like me when I was 17......patience was pretty foreign to me!
I posted a devotional, that speaks of contentment no matter what is going on with you. I'll add the link below if you're interested in reading it. Can't tell if the link will take you there. So you can look under "Devotionals" and It's called "Are you content?" Hope it helps some.

With all that being said, I'm glad you've found your way or should I say that God has led you here to TJ. I'm not the theologian that many are here
but I try to be compassionate, and attempt to show to others the same Love that Christ has shown to me.

Ask any questions and if I don't know (probably) I'll ask @eddieb :)

many times there are free sessions of spiritual counseling, but you have to search for it. A good place to start would be churches. get out the yellow pages and call around. Another place to search is in shelters. i used to work at a homeless shelter and counseling was a big thing there. Not all shelters offer this but when they do its usually someone whom God uses for that purpose and put there.

I think your spiritual problem is an attack of the enemy(most likely but I am not a doctor). People who have psychological issues that have had daily sessions of "intense prayer and worship" have shown significant improvement in quality of life. I forget the statistic but its very hopeful.

Again any way I can be of service, i try to log in here once a day.
