You [are] my God, and I will praise You; [You are] my God, I will exalt You. Psalm 118:28
Who are your favorite college and professional sports teams? Can you remember scenes from some of their most famous victories? And, have any of your favorite teams ever won a national championship? If so, how did you feel? Elated? Electrified? Ecstatic? Enthusiastic beyond words?
Who are your favorite musicians and music groups? Can you remember specific songs from some of their concerts? And, have they ever had a #1 Hit? If so, how did you feel when you heard it for the first time?
The funny thing about peak experiences is they never last. That's true not just in sports and music but also in every other sphere of life. Sadly, some peak experiences end up leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. That team isn't so special anymore. That #1 Hit song now just gets on your nerves.
How good that you can thank the Lord every day for who He is and what He means to you! As you continue to read His Word during the second half of this summer, be sure to look for "peak" reasons to keep praising God.
Prayer: Lord, You are my God, and I want to honor and praise You every day of my life. Help me to notice and remember scores of reasons why. You are worthy beyond measure!
