Beware of the fungus among us.

Matthew 16:5-12
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. 8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Jesus warned the disciples to beware of the leaven or yeast of the religious leaders. Yeast according to Webster’s dictionary is a fungi or fungus. Jesus was calling the teachings of the religious leaders a fungus.

1Corinthians 5:6-8
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Paul’s warning is to be on guard, even a little or small amount of yeast will infect the whole.
Today’s Christianity offers a wide variety of beliefs that have conflicting and contrary teachings. This is evidence of what Paul stated in 1Cor. 5:6-8, the adding of yeast compromises the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What is the yeast of the Pharisees? The Pharisee’s yeast are the teachings and traditions of man.
Matthew 15:1-9
1 Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to interview Jesus. 2 “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old traditions?” they demanded. “They ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
3 Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? 4 For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.’* 5 But you say, ‘You don’t need to honor your parents by caring for their needs if you give the money to God instead.’ 6 And so, by your own tradition, you nullify the direct commandment of God. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was prophesying about you when he said,
8 ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far away.
9 Their worship is a farce,
for they replace God’s commands with their own man-made teachings.’* ”

Standing back and looking at the Christian religion and all it’s beliefs and teachings as a whole, I would say it is infected with a fungus, a fungus called the yeast of the Pharisees.
So then, how do we fix it? We don’t, man has already made a mess of it. Then how do we get out of this mess? By following the Holy Spirit and not the traditions of man.

John 16:13-15
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that the Father has is mine; this is what I mean when I say that the Spirit will reveal to you whatever he receives from me.

Jesus said if we want to be His disciples, that we MUST deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. There is no other way. The Holy Spirit is here to help us do just that, become disciples of Christ. Let’s decide today to heed Jesus’ warning and stop following the opinions, knowledge and traditions of man and from here on out, follow the Holy Spirit’s prompting and become partakers of the PURE unleavened bread, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

ROFL really funny “ -a fungus among us !!"

(You too Jesuslovesu; lol - - (religion sticks)

On a more serious note --- This is excellent Jiggyfly.

The pharasees were teaching their own man made doctrines and calling them God's commmandments. There are those who hold to man s tradiitons and wonder why the Word of God isnt real in their lives. They are bound by their own false beliefs, defeated and miserable. This is why…….

Mark 7 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye

We have to believe Gods Word, not what men say , denomimations or headquarters , etc ----Even if it is not what we “heard” all our lives. If we hold to religious traditions and legalistic ways the WORD of GOD will be INEFFECTIVE in our lives. We cant grow or move higher in the Lord. If you say ‘this is what my parents and grandparents always believed’ , but its not what the Bible says then you will be on the losing side. We must humble ourselves and decide to believe what GOD says, not be proud and hold to our own wrong thinking. People can be very religious yet they have never been born again; they are just going thru the motions of churchi-anity.. Jesus wants us to be free in Him. Loosed from all religious bondages.

Amen Soldier!

"We are bleach for this fungus!"

This thread reminds me of these verses:

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Psa 51

If you like that title how about this one, Luke 14:15-24 the parable of the great feast. The teaching is titled "Two fools and a hen pecked husband". LOL

I have heard it taught many time leaven means "sin" and a little leaven spreads. You cant "sin " and think it will stay small - it wont- it will grow just like leaven.

But it can also be the doctrines of the pharisees. They said one thing but did the opposite themselves. They accuse a person of something and have a bigger beam in their own eye. That can also spread among church members - whether its sin, criticism, or false doctrine. That's why we are told to beware lest we fall in the same way.

Man teaches his own doctrines to cover up his unbelief. Unbelief is simple not believing what God says. When the truth of the Word is preached , I ve heard people say " No I always believed it THIS way" --and they wont change. They will not renew their mind to God's Word or conform to His ways so they will create and teach their own man-made doctrines and traditions.
BEWARE of the leaven?

"Man teaches his own doctrines to cover up his unbelief."
Never thought of it that way before...hmm...vg point!

So Gloria, are you telling me the old adage is true..." behind every good man stands a good woman telling him what to say" ?

jiggyfly only you would find a henpecked husband in that passage LOL!
He did`nt say he was henpecked, only that he was married, unless one
concludes that would naturally make him henpecked

*pictures a mob of women running jiggyfly out of town*
