As we moved into the 2020s, more and more people stopped watching or reading the news, simply because they find it so discouraging and depressing. Maybe you’re one of them!
For the Christian man though, the bad or discouraging news he sees about his community, his state, his nation, and the rest of the world give him the opportunity to engage in what is call intercessory prayer. That’s the kind of prayer in which someone “stands in the gap” before God and pleads for His mercy and intervention on behalf of another—including friends, family members, government leadership…that list goes on and on.
God has given each of us an amazing responsibility—and privilege: to be men of prayer, men who come to Him and plead fervently with Him on behalf of others. Who can you begin praying for today?
Prayer: Lord God, I believe that You are looking for men to stand in the gap and pray for their friends, their family members, for their communities, and their nation. Help me to be the man of prayer who can make a difference in this world and in the lives of people around me.
