Behavior Modification?

And Azariah the chief priest, from the house of Zadok, answered him and said, "Since [the people] began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and have plenty left, for the LORD has blessed His people; and what is left [is] this great abundance." 2 Chronicles 31:10 NKJV

The example of King Hezekiah led the people to return to worshipping God and following His command to give. The priests couldn’t do their job because they needed resources. The people began giving. God knew they couldn’t endure forever, but He blessed the people and they gave more than enough.

Had revival come to Judah? It looked more like behavior modification. The hearts of the people were connected to popular opinion, but their national pride changed their actions only as long as they kept up their personal pep rall9es.

Perseverance is more than self-discipline and personal resolve. This won’t be enough to endure difficulty, pressure, and temptation. You do what you believe God wants you to do, yet trouble still comes, life remains difficult, and you wonder why obedience is so important.

Faith endurance is always about working alongside the One who does the most work…much more than you can. Understand that a relationship with Him is worth infinitely more than trying to do good on your own.

Prayer: God, take my desire to do the right thing and add Your willingness to help. Allow me to really follow instead of existing in a world of good intentions but failed outcomes.
