If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15-17 (ASV). God’s word always speaks plainly and with our patience in studying quietly with in Him, He always tell us why, “It is for your “sanctification”.

What is meant by loving the world?

The popular ways of man which goes against Gods will.

Most of Christianity have no clue they are really of the world. They love God in the ways they decide to love Him. Not the ways He has commanded or asked in the scriptures.

Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."

But I'm sure they would counter with, "I thought your law was nailed to the cross tho..."

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. This is all you need to do. It did not say; with some of your heart or some of your soul or some of your mind. That should keep you busy. Hang out there for awhile. You will be alright.
