Are they ministers of Christ?--I speak as a fool--I [am] more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. From the Jews five times I received forty [stripes] minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 2 Corinthians 11:23-25 NKJV

In 2 Corinthians 11:23-29, the apostle Paul recounted for the church in Corinth his terrible suffering for the cause of the message of Jesus Christ. He had been flogged nearly to death five times, beaten with rods, pelted with rocks, and shipwrecked. In addition, he had gone without food, water, and adequate clothing to keep himself warm.

Yet through it all, Paul never complained to God that he was being treated unfairly. Instead, he kept his heart and mind focused on Jesus and on the mission He had called Paul to accomplish.

When you’re going through difficult times, be like the apostle Paul. Remember to keep your eyes on Jesus. When you do that, you’ll have peace in your heart and the strength you need to continue on what God has for you to do.

Prayer: Father in heaven, when I’m enduring difficulties, keep my heart focused on You so that I can continue in the work You have for me to do.
