Be Joyful!
Always be full of Joy in the Lord: I say it again rejoice! Philippians 4.4
As I sit here trying to think of a devotional for this year, what keeps going around in my mind is rejoice in the Lord always. It is hard to be joyful. It has been cold and nasty for weeks!
I am watching the snow falling for the second time this week. Snow can be such a problem if you have to be out driving in it. It takes me so much longer to get to work but I am also finding myself praying a lot more. I am thankful for that extra prayer time.
I am thankful today to be able to appreciate the beauty of the snow and all of God’s creations. I can rejoice in the cardinals at the bird feeder and the ducks on the creek they don’t seem to be bothered by the snow at all!
I can also rejoice that we live in an area that sees changes in seasons, mild winters and exceptionally beautiful springs! I am reminded that under all that snow are the seeds and roots of next year’s flowers. So, although I can’t stop and smell the roses right now, I can rejoice in knowing that spring is just around the corner and if it were not for winter spring would not be as sweet!
Changes happen constantly in our lives as with the seasons. We must learn to embrace those changes and rejoice in the Lord. He knows the plan! Spring is coming!
Lord, please help me to find the way through the changes in my life and be joyful always!
