Bro Boanerges , im not saying KJV is perfect but these so called errors u posted seem to be in entirely different league than the errors in NIV.

I dont think the way KJV translators had to make decision which english word to use was errous. you have to choose some english word and english doesnt have as cleaver words as greek/hebrew and they chosed ones which made it sensible , regarding the context.

I am in no way attacking the KJV. I am simply pointing out that though we can certainly prove human error in any translation God can and will use what He has allowed to be here now.

The purpose of the NIV was to give an easy to understand (and accurate according to early manuscripts) version which indeed written on about a 10th grade reading level. There seems to be an obvious need for that.

About the KJV:
What about pasting together different manuscripts were verses were missing in the original?
Don't get me wrong, I like the King James (yes it is still my favorite), but seems no more anointed than others in the (currently) 10 or so I have spent time in.
I believe that if it speaks to you that is wonderful.
I also believe that since the KJV wasn't written until the 17th century there earlier works on could consider as preeminent,.
I also believe that one could easily argue that the Textus Recptus bears the marks of editing by Erasmus in that it contains material found in no other Greek manuscripts.
If you try you can dizzy yourself contemplating every aspect of how we arrived at our current translations-
or you can simply trust God to speak to you through that which He allows to find it's way into your hand.

In conclusion- I know several people who had a born again experience while studying the NIV. If God moves in and through it I personally am quite satisfied.

If I owned two companies
one company which did pornography making lots and lots of money
And
I owned another company that did printing of NIV bibles
You tell me how would it be ethical to say my decisions in either of the two have nothing to do with each other!
The decisions to make, through advertisement and influence and promotions, more money out of the NIV more financially sound would come off of the profits you received from the porno magazines.
So the NIV bible was pushed on America for financial gain which came off of the backs of abused woman!

Did you know that Abraham was an idolater, that Rahab was a harlot and Matthew was a tax collector? And yet God used them not only for His glory but has 2 of them in the genealogy of Christ.

If I was a secular person would I know the difference or even care?

I have seen lives eternally changed through the study of an NIV. If God is willing to use it to bring someone to a saving knowledge of Christ why should I reject it?

When the NIV was being published by zondervan press in the other room down the hall to the right of this organization, being owned by rupert murdoch, another company owned by him also their were millions of porn magazines that were being printed generating millions of dollars to make the NIV readily available so it would be financially successful! Wow! Porn generated the money to make the NIV where it is today!

You know this first hand, you been there and seen it with your own eyes?

scriptures did come from the holy spirit. i dont understand whats the problem finding new spiritual experiences through scripture?

Reading of the spiritual experiences of others is not in any way experiencing them for yourself.

Yes the people who wrote the NIV put out by rupert murdoch zondervan press who publishes porn making millions off of it has twisted and changed the scriptures. You can even do a comparison, even using google, a 10 year old can do it!
Why would money from porn be connected with the NIV from the same business, I wonder!

You are doing the connecting, sir. There has been no twisting or changing of Scripture.

OK brothers and sisters, I think this conversation has about run its course, I have been a pastor for many years and have heard all the arguments about which version is best, which ones are evil blah blah blah. Unless you are reading the orginal Hebrew or Greek script there are going to be some differences. I have a copy of almost every major translation on my desk and I use them all at different times. My personal is the NLT but I know that is not for everyone. I have noticed the tone in this discussion begining to turn. Remember we are here to fellowship and lead the lost to Christ, this type of discussion does nothing but divide.

Rupert Murdoch does not start profitable businesses, he acquires them. Zondervan was profitable and printing NIV Bibles when he bought it. If it hadn't been profitable, he wouldn't have been interested in it. Mr. Murdoch's publishing empire may include porn, but in no way should that sully the NIV Bible or Zondervan. You need to think more carefully, Shipwreck, before you put on your "righteous warrior" mantle.
