A beautiful treasure is left in plain sight amid the darkness of Golgotha. Right there, where all the pain and sadness came together, is a heart of love that beats for you. It was strong enough to handle the mocking soldiers and their whips, and it was humble enough to be spit on and not spit back. Your Savior’s heart was giving enough to make sure you had a way home, back to the loving arms of your Creator.
Good Friday, when we commemorate the day our Lord was made to carry His cross through crowds of onlookers, doesn’t necessarily feel like a day of celebration At first glance, it feels more like a somber moment when evil won and all that was good perished. But don’t lose sight of the cross. It was there that the King of kings said, “It is finished.”
Where is your treasure? Is it in something made by human hands? Jesus, your perfect and wonderful treasure, said your heart is where your treasure is. Let your heart be found in Him.
Prayer: Lord, I can’t imagine what You went through the day You gave Your all on the cross. Before the pain and anguish tore at Your heart and body. You prayed for me. Please help my heart stay connected to You.
