Ask of Me?
Jesus said....
John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, WHATSOEVER YE SHALL ASK THE FATHER IN MY NAME, HE WILL GIVE IT YOU.
Does this mean we can ask God for anything and he will give it to us? Yes, and no. To receive anything from God the Father you first must have “faith”. Faith comes by knowing the will of God. (Romans 10:17)
1Jn 5:14 And this is the CONFIDENCE that we have in him, that, IF WE ASK ANY THING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, HE HEARETH US:
The word, “confidence” means, “the act of speaking. freedom or frankness in speaking. NT meanings: freedom in speaking all that one thinks, speaking with boldness”
It is always easy to speak with confidence, and boldness when you know the will of God!!! When a person has faith, because he knows the will of God there will be power in what he/she says not only towards your self who is speaking, but also unto all those who hear you!
If you know that God is hearing what you are asking him for, then you can rest assured that you have what you asked him for!!
1Jn 5:15 And IF WE KNOW THAT HE HEAR US, WHATSOEVER WE ASK, WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE THE PETITIONS THAT WE DESIRED OF HIM.
In other words God the Father is telling us what he wants us to ask him for!!!
Here is a very interesting scripture that shows us God the Father, and his Son Jesus before the creation of the world...
Psa 2:7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Psa 2:8 ASK OF ME, AND I WILL MAKE THE NATIONS YOUR HERITAGE, AND THE ENDS OF THE EARTH YOUR POSSESSION.
Psa 2:9 You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”
Jesus is known as the Wisdom and the power of God, (1 Cor 1:24) and he (Wisdom) was the very first thing God the Father brought forth to use to create all things. (Proverbs 8) God the father tells his Son, “ASK OF ME, AND I WILL MAKE THE NATIONS YOUR HERITAGE, AND THE ENDS OF THE EARTH YOUR POSSESSION.”
In the New Testament, we learn that “all things were made by him (Jesus, the Wisdom, and power of God), and all things were made for him” (Col 1:16)
Jesus was told to “ask his father for the NATIONS, and ends of the earth for his possession”
Did Jesus ever ask his father for these things?
The Apostle John saw in a vision all the saints of God.
Rev 7:9 After this I BEHELD, AND, LO, A GREAT MULTITUDE, which no man could number, of ALL NATIONS, AND KINDREDS, AND PEOPLE, AND TONGUES, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Jesus asked his father for the things his father told him to ask him for, and received them!!!!
The Bible is filled with thousands of promises that God the Father is telling us to ask him for!!!
Why do we need to ask him for these if he (God the father) already knows what we have need of? Because no one can ask in faith without knowing first what those things are that the Father is telling us to ask him for, which comes by knowing the Word of God, by which faith comes!!!
2Pe 1:3 According as HIS DIVINE POWER HATH GIVEN UNTO US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS, THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby ARE GIVEN UNTO US EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Every thing the Lord God has already given us can only be found in the promises, and it is these promises we are to ask him for!!
Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet YE HAVE NOT, BECAUSE YE ASK NOT.
Jas 4:3 YE ASK, AND RECEIVE NOT, BECAUSE YE ASK AMISS, THAT YE MAY CONSUME IT UPON YOUR LUSTS.
No one can ask God for things that he does not know what God is telling us to ask him for!!!
Whatever we ask of God the Father he will give it to us if it is something he has already given to us to ask him for!!
