Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. Exodus 15:20 ESV
Miriam had seen the mighty God at work. First, when she was a young girl guarding her baby brother until the Lord answered prayer and brought a princess to rescue him. She then had seen her parents’ faith rewarded as the princess returned baby Moses to his parents for a few more precious years. After years of waiting, she also watched as God struck the Egyptians with plagues to show His glorious power.
Now past her ninetieth birthday, Miriam experienced the Lord’s complete deliverance as she and the rest of the Israelites marched through the Red Sea and turned around to see Pharaoh and his army swept away in the crashing waters. Age would not keep her from leading in the festival of worship that day. She gave all the glory to God and helped others do the same.
You too can give glory to God and help others to praise Him too. Opportunities abound, whether through music ministry, leading a small group Bible study, teaching a Sunday school class, or community outreach.
Don’t keep it all to yourself. Tell others the good news: the Lord saves!
Prayers: Lord, transform me. Like Miriam, I want to encourage others to praise God for His goodness.
