Anyone know of a great book with simplicity in explaining the Bible to others? I want to get one for my family members to get them into it. They find it difficult to understand the Bible but I'm sure they can be drawn in closer to understanding with any study tool or something of that sort.

I've never peeked at that one but our church's bible class teacher uses Amplified and KJV. Sounds interesting. Will have to finish up my NIV first before switching to AMP.

BEST BIBLE TO READ AND STUDY

Although personally i prefer the New Jerusalem Bible !!

It has the Father's Holy Name all through the Old Testament, like it should be in all Bibles.

And it is easy to read and understand !!

And from what i have read and studied it is the most accurate Bible to the Original Scriptures !!

I will visit my local Barnes & Noble to look at the NJB. Sounds pretty interesting.

It is interesting, i like it more than any other Bible, and i have read and done much research on the majority of the Bibles used nowdays. :)

Hey CHAD :) i just wanted to check up with you
and see how this is going for you ??

Did you get the Amplified Bible
or the New Jerusalem Bible ??
or Both ???

Hello One heart thanks for asking. I am doing great praise the Lord :) I am currently reading NIV and did not buy Amplified yet, but probably will eventually.

There is a book called, "WHAT THE BIBLE IS ALL ABOUT", by Henrietta Mears. It is an excellent tool for understanding the broad sweeping themes in the Word, and the Bible as a whole. It goes book-by-book; its loaded with not only facts, but gives understanding of how Jesus is revealed in every book from Genesis through Revelation.

Also, there is an awesome prayer in Eph. 1 that all of us should avail ourselves of when opening the Word. "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you," Eph. 1:17-18 NIV We can all benefit from the Spirit of wisdom and revelation -- and -- for the eyes of our heart to be enlightened.

Chad, as I've mentioned in my other post, the book "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus" is a wonderful resource that explains the Bible to others. It begins from Creation to Christ, with the Gospel being the central message. The book was written with the basics of hermeneutics in mind: building from simple to complex, focusing on one theme (in this case, the Gospel), and majoring on the majors. I've personally witnessed many people come to Christ through this book...and even those who don't have a very clear understasnding of the Gospel and the major stories in the Bible (they just choose not to believe in it).

You can take look at the entire book online before you decide to buy it:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sojourner for the link :) truly appreciate it. I will definitely look after I finish my work. GBU

Nanaroo, I haven't heard anyone mention WHAT THE BIBLE IS ALL ABOUT", by Henrietta Mears for a long, long time. That's the first book I studyed when the Lord touched my life and I still have it. I highly recommend it also

I'll have to take a look at that book some time...

Hey Chad, did you get a chance to take a look at "The Stranger" book?

Please refresh my memory sojourner lol, been busy every second of every day so I forgot. I will now that you mentioned it (again). I have a B&N around the block with some Starbuck's :)

You can find the book online at:

If you prefer to read the actual book, you can check if Barnes & Nobles have it. (I haven't seen them carrying it before.)

You could always order right from their website or Amazon or CBD. The book is very reasonably priced.

Have any of you read the New Testament called What Would Jesus Do
it is somewhat similar although it is broken down into plain easy to understand language, I thought it was a great little book, anybody
else ever hear of W.W.J.D. You can buy badges bracelets etc
all with that logo and it was the first thing that helped me
when I started out on my Christian life, I also asked myself
when I didn't know what to do, 'Now just what would Jesus do
and I soon got my answer.

Hi Chad,

I can highly recommend "Unlocking the Bible - Omnibus" by David Pawson (collins).

He gives a wonderful 'over-view' of all 66 books of the Bible and shows how to read them as Christians. At £9.99 from Wesley-Owen it has to be the bargain of the year.

Love,

Deano

A (Or "The"?) Case for Christ by Lee Stroebel

My friend came to the Lord after reading the Left Behind Series ... that woke her up

Kent Hovind's Creatiion Videos

These have all been effective

Oh! Also ... go to LivingWaters.com or The Way of the Master ... THERE is some great stuff!

I personally recommend the New Living Translation. It's language is often very understandable.. at my study group we often refer to this translation as 'The Answer Book' because of it's clear speak.
