Annahs Health

Today has not started of well for Annah. Because Annah is unable to swallow when her saliva (secretions) increases she runs a high risk of aspirating them into her lungs. Annah has been wearing patches that are placed behind her ear that are used for motion sickness. It is the only medicine that can help decrease the saliva her body produces. It is the only medicine left for us to use to help her manage her saliva. She has been using these patches since August of 2007. We are starting to run into some problems with them. They are not staying on as long as they should before they need to be replaced and now are starting to leave a rash where they are placed behind her ear. When Annahs saliva (secretions) increase her oxygen levels can go down and her heart rate goes up. Normally Annah just needs oxygen when she sits up. Once in a while her breathing and oxygen levels are not doing what they should be so she has to wear oxygen while lying out on her mat. Annah does better when she is laying out and not sitting up as it is easier for her to allow all the saliva the builds up in the back of her throat to drain out. If she sits up and the secretions are high they settle in the back of her throat making it very difficult for her to breath. With all that if there is a lot of moisture in the air her secretions increase even more. Well today is one of those days. Annahs secretions are very high and there is a lot of moisture in the air. She needs oxygen today while lying out on her mat. I had not placed a patch behind her ear for a few days to allow the rash to heal. I placed a new patch behind her other ear this morning and am praying that it will help lower her secretions making it easier for her to breath. As this may seem overwhelming to some it is not for God.
Please do not pity her or myself. It is through Christ strength that we are able to get through each day praising Him for the good days as well as the bad ones.

I need The Lord

As I was praying today for your Annah, I believe the Lord showed me something really special that brought many tears to my eyes. I am also thankful that I was on my own, miles from anyone, and had that time to pray.

I believe He said to me that I am like Annah. And, you are like Him.

How very much dependant on Him I am, for everything. Even my words, and how, compared to His word which created all things, my language is nothing. And you my sister... so much as He is... how you love your child and are there for her, and have given your life to her... how you love her beyond measure and do not stop loving her, even though she is so needy of you.... and this brought me to see that I am so helpless without Him, in a new light, and as Annah deserves every bit of your love, and has never sinned against you, I don't deserve even a little tiny fraction of God's love as I am able in many ways but do wrong so often....

It is His grace.... as in Annah means grace, that I am saved.

I hope this encourages you my sister... that your life with your family testifies to the Father's love for each one of us.

Update on Annah. Annah had a really good day yesterday. IT is hard though as she is unable to tell me what is going on when she cries. She is not able to tell me what hurts and why. Annahs health can be up and down. Each day is a new day for all of us. I have learned through Annah to take it one moment at a time with her. Now if only I could do that with the rest of my life. I want to thank you for ALL the prayers on Annahs behalf. If you would like to know how she is please go to the story forum and look up Annahs story. I will try to put weekly updates there. I only will had to this post if her health gets really bad again. God Bless You all and thank you again

Concern: Annah has had two incidents two days in a row now involving her feeding.

Annah is tube fed 4 times a day as she does not swallow.
Well yesterday and today while hooked up to her feeding pump as her feedings need to be pumped in at a certain rate as to fast can cause problems for her. Well towards the end of both stomach acid started to come back up through the feeding tube while the formula should of been pumping into her stomach.

Usually when stomach acid pumps back up there is something going on with her bowels. Because of Annahs birth defect her bowels can kink or become blocked. Either way surgery may be required.

Over all Annah seems okay though her secrections are up and she does seem a bit fatigued. I will be making a doctors appointment Monday and will let you know what is recommened.
