And Every Virtue We Possess

......all my fresh springs shall be in Thee.
Psalms 87:7

Our Lord never patches up our natural virtues, He re-makes the whole man on the inside. "Put on the new man," i.e., see that your natural human life puts on the garb that is in keeping with the new life. The life God plants in us develops its own virtues, not the virtues of Adam but of Jesus Christ. Watch how God will wither up your confidence in natural virtues after sanctification, and in any power you have, until you learn to draw your life from the reservoir of the resurrection life of Jesus. Thank God if you are going through a drying-up experience!

The sign that God is at work in us is that He corrupts confidence in the natural virtues, because they are not promises of what we are going to be, but renmants of what God created man to be. We will cling to the natural virtues, while all the time God is trying to get us into contact with the life of Jesus Christ which can never be described in terms of the natural virtues. It is the saddest thing to see people in the service of God depending on that which the grace of God never gave them, depending on what they have by the accident of heredity. God does not build up our natural virtues and transfigure them, because our natural virtues can never come anywhere near what Jesus Christ wants. No natural love, no natural patience, no natural purity can ever come up to His demands. But as we bring every bit of our bodily life into harmony with the new life which God has put in us, He will exhibit in us the virtues that were characteristic of the Lord Jesus.

"And every virtue we possess Is His alone."

Excellent Post Word of Life!

The sign that God is at work in us is that He corrupts confidence in the natural virtues, because they are not promises of what we are going to be, but renmants of what God created man to be. I find in my life that these virtues, these things which have to pass away is one if not "the" most painful experience of my walk with Christ. Sometimes I sit back and see my life and think, well, I've been through this the past 6 months, why am I going through it again?

This post does not end my life of questioning, but it gives me hope, to know that God knows, He knows when the last of my virtues, my self, is done away with.

Life is strange, it's painful, but each day is new.

God bless
Much love

This is how I see it teraside and this is from experience, with me anyway. God gives us little lessons to learn in life, so that we become more like Jesus Christ, sometimes we fail them sometimes we pass them. God knows we are not ever going to be perfect like Jesus, but He does want us to try. Now, if I fail my little lesson, that God has given me, say something to do with my character, I do believe He is not going to let it go, until He feels I have made some head-way with that lesson. Now if I slip-up in a months time, it's back to that same old lesson again.

God is teaching me about patience at the moment and gosh, you don't know how hard this lesson has been for me, because I have never had any patience at all. My whole character has to change.

2Th 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

2Ti 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Yes I agree they are painful times and we do suffer, but sometimes, we are our worst own enemy and we don't let things go or we want it our way and not Gods way or we don't listen to God when He speaks to us.

Act 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

I like your opinion a lot Word of Life, actually I love it!

I wanted to make an observation regarding the post in comparison to my life, believe me, sometimes I'm really stiff necked, but without being prideful, without making myself big, my Christian walk and these lessons are there to conform to the image of Jesus, we have to become like Jesus.

I have learned the hard way, without motive or lack of expression. God demands surrender, full stop.

Thank you for this post and sharing your wisdom with me, it's truly appreciated, you are a dear friend!

God bless your heart
