In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee [as] a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend [their] bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Psalm 11:1-3

Much more than the ongoing misadventures of a slick trickster, Jacob's life is the story of the faithful God who stuck with him even when he messed up. And when he feared the consequences of his past the most, God didn't chew him out. Instead, He told him, "I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go----I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you" (Genesis 28:15).

Jacob realized that God was there with him and--even more amazingly--for him! He then committed wholeheartedly to God for the first time in his life--all his provision, resources, and plans--and left the rest up to God.

All your mistakes, all the things that haunt your memories, God knows all of it and still gave Himself for you. Let that sink in. When it does, you'll see that the only reasonable response is gratitude, and then commitment. There's nothing you can do to earn God's grace, but you can respond to it by giving all of yourself to Him.

Prayer: God, there's no turning back. I trust that You are here with me, now and always. I'm all in.
