Its really great to read all these responses, i have been starving for real christian fellowship. It just seems so hard to make a connection with real Christians, I am certain the fault is within me, I sometimes go to a real spirit filled church and all is great but its so difficult to make that connection, Being single and an older man makes it hard for me to connect.
I am 57 years old. I have been 3 years clean from drugs and alcohol. I was saved when i was 21 and had a great christian community, It was my recovery from an teenage years of drugs and crime. i went from a drugged crime ridden person from age 12-20 to a professional therapist with all lifes positives, life was great at 21 up until 36,i started my slow progress to a life of destruction and after years of insanity i am reaching trying to get back to where i was with the Lord.

twc130 First WELCOME Brother!! I understand about age. LOL I am 58. Jesus is not behind you my brother,he is in front of us,this, I to had to learn,as like you, I to,had problems after receiving such a wonderful gift as Jesus being my Lord.Not just in words but also in deeds.

We learn my brother that we cannot follow by looking back,only by looking forward,and we cannot follow by taking the lead either,I also had to find this out the hard way,I wanted to lead Jesus. LOL Ah this did not work either! What we find is that what is behind we hopefully have learned from,and what lies ahead,is Jesus,and us in him.

We have so many wonderful sisters and brothers here.I am glad you are another found part among us! For we are all a part of one body,and every part works together in one, with Jesus being in us.To follow,we must learn how to,and after we learn how to follow,we then must learn how to stay balanced to always continue to follow. That is why we are all here!

To give balance to each other,to uplift one another in Christ,yes to have others around say,You are my daughter, or son in whom I am well pleased. To be pleasing to the Lord,we are to please one another in building up one another. To speak life,when others here death,to bring hope,when many would have us in despair.Oh heck,God's Word says this much better then I can!!( 2 Cor 4:7-18!!!) This my brother is how we follow,staying in God's Holy Word,and making his Word life in our own body! Again welcome to you!! We are blessed to have you counted among us here at TalkJesus!

You are not an old man, just more experienced. I am 56, Rejoice! We are closer to being in heaven, hahahahaha!

Stay on the path in Jesus Christ, He is our only hope. Many of us have similar stories. Thank God He forgives and forgets! That is a real miracle. Learn from your past, but remember, it does not exist anymore. We are a New Creature in Christ, the former things are passed away, ALL things are made new.

Sounds like you've had a roller coaster of a life so far.

God will use all of your life and what you've gone through. Everything to God's purpose twc130. As you begin to grown once again, as a new man, you will find that those experiences that you would wish on no one, will begin to serve you well in helping others who may be going through the same thing. You may not ever want to repeat those experiences, but allow God to work through you to help others who may be in the same boat that you were in.
