Why is this taught ?
Where does it say we were Adopted into the family of God .
The Adoption is the redemption of the body .
23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, WAITING for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

We recieve the Spirit OF until THE adoption . Rom 8.23

THE ADOPTION IS !!!!!! THE REDEMPTION OF THE BODY .
how can we be waiting for something that we already have ?
We become a son through this way.
John 1.12
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD , even to them that believe on his name:
NO " we are adopted into the family of God " here .

Just before Rom 8.23 we get this verse .
Romans 8:15

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit OF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
THIS IS NOT THE !!!!! ADOPTION.

What does Romans 9 .4 have to do with a Christian waiting for the redemption of his body ? ( Rom 8.23 ) There is no connection to that verse which is about Israel .

As we are children of God and brothers and sisters with Christ Jesus by the indwelling Spirit of adoption then obviously we are in the family of God our Father already.

12:7 If you endure discipline, God is dealing with you as with sons; for who is the son whom a father does not discipline?

12:9 Furthermore, indeed we have had fathers of our flesh as correctors, and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and we shall live?

Yes we become sons through the new birth ( John 1.12 ,not 'adoption '..THE Adoption is what we are predestined to after we believe. And that's the redemption of the body. Rom 8.23 .

sorry but I read this quite differently to how you are reading it -
8:23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves who have the first fruits of the Spirit groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons the redemption of our bodies.
as adopted sons [children] of God we are awaiting the redemption of our bodies - the resurrection, not awaiting to become adopted sons

I am already an adopted son of God my father in Heaven and I have access to him through praying in the Holy Spirit, that is praying in tongues. What I groan for is the redemption of my body; to be
changed in a twinkling of an eye and to gain a new spirit body with no more arthritis, aches and pains.

5:3 if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked.

Yes, we have the spirit of adoption now whereby we can call the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 'Father'. Praise God! it is our possession by promise now, to be ours in blessed fact at the redemption of our bodies in resurrection glory.

The Greek word translated adoption means to place as a son. In other words: to
make someone a son by a means other than birth, i.e. a legal son as opposed to a
natural son.

The Bible's first incidence of this method of obtaining sonship is located in the book
of Genesis where Jacob adopted two of his own grandchildren-- Joseph's two boys
Manasseh and Ephraim.

Though the boys remained biologically associated with their natural mother; Jacob's
adoption was intended to make them Rachel's legal boys, bringing her total number
of sons up to six: two of her own, two by her maid Bilhah, and two by Joseph's wife
Asenath.

I'm confident that it's safe to appropriate Jacob's initiative as an aid to assist in our
understanding of the divine adoption relative to Christians.

The Greek and Roman influences of the day in regard to adoption would be worthy references too, for it would have to relate to those who were being addressed at the time. Both are interesting. I have read concerning both, and know that they are worth noting in relation to Paul's words on this subject.

According to Rom 8:15-16 and 1John 3:1-2, Christ's believing followers are
legitimate sons of God right now-- no delay and no waiting period. To assure his
own so, they have been given God's Spirit as a pledge. (Rom 8:15, Eph 1:13-14,
and Gal 4:6)

This particular kind of transaction shows up first in the book of Genesis where
Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar takes his staff and his signet as a good-faith token
to guarantee his promise to send her a head of his livestock.

The thing is, had Judah reneged on the deal, and failed to send Tamar the animal,
he would've forfeited his staff and his signet. In other words; Tamar had a
legal right to keep Judah's personal items till he made good on his promise. Had
there been a time limit on the arrangement, Judah would've risked losing his staff
and his signet permanently.

Anyway; in a nutshell, God, via the gospel, has promised His son's followers an
immortal resurrection. His spirit is the good-faith token that He will make good on
that promise. Should He renege, then Christ's believing followers retain possession
of God's spirit for as long as they like till such a time as He comes through with His
end of the arrangement, i.e. Christ's believing followers have a legal right to keep
God's spirit right up to the moment of their resurrection.

In other words: the only rightful way that God can redeem His spirit is by raising
Christ's believing followers from the dead with immortality: that's the deal.

BTW: Judah tried to make good on his promise but Tamar vanished. So Judah had
to forfeit his goods-- not only because it was the right thing to do, but also to
protect his reputation. (Gen 38:18-23)

I suspect that many of Christ's followers don't appreciate the power they have over
his Father; yes, they actually have Him at a disadvantage. God has to empower
their resurrected bodies with immortality not only because keeping one's promise is
the right thing to do, but also to protect His name's reputation as a person of
impeccable integrity who can always be trusted to honor their commitments.
