The only difference between Matthew and Mark's accounts is that Matthew says that the abomination of desolation will stand in the "holy place," while Mark says that it will stand where it "ought not." They are actually saying the exact same thing. The 'holy place' is the Temple Mount, and this is the abomination that currently stands upon it?

Why is this abomination associated with desolation? My guess is worldwide biological, chemical, and nuclear terrorism.
And abomination is a disgusting thing.
