A word on forgiveness.

1 John 1:8-10 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."
I have been forgive sins that, according to God's word, deserve the penalty of death. So I am eternally grateful to my King for his mercy.
Matthew 5:21-22. "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement. again anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca' (empty headed) is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says 'you fool' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
I believe we have to be extremely careful how we address our brothers and sisters. We all have been forgiven much, and so to look upon the sin of another is to bring the eyes of God upon our own sin and that is unwise. We are called to love our enemies, do good to those who do spitefully use us. If your enemies are hungr, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty give them water to drink. Christians are lovers. We should behave that way. Blessings to all on Talk Jesus.

1 John 1:5-10 (NKJV)
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

First, we have fellowship with one another.
In verse 6, John has declared that to walk in darkness prevents fellowship with God.
In verse 7 we would have expected him in to express that if we walk in the light, we enjoy fellowship with God, but he doesn't. Interestingly, John says if we walk in the light as Jesus is in the light we have fellowship with one another... and as a result the blood of Christ cleanses us from All sin. This is no doubt because, if we walk in the light we have fellowship with each other, which is based on our fellowship with the Father and the Son.

1 John 1:3 (NKJV)
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

So we are to walk in the light, because walking in the light is that the blood of Jesus, his Son, 'purifies' us from all sin, it sanctifies us making us righteous, which verse 9 is confirming for us.

If we walk in the light we are transparent, nothing hidden, so if we say we are without sin we are lying, our transparency shows us up as liars.

This is also why we are told to practice righteousness, because if we are in sin we are unrighteous, we must be cleansed from all sin,

v7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Just thinking aloud brother.
