"For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." John 3:20-21 NKJV

You can know if you are living in confidence or shame before God by doing a little self-examination. If you are willing to stand before God without hiding anything or making some kind of excuse for yourself, you are living by God’s truth and obeying His commands with a clear conscience. However, if your first inclination is to hide from God, to add a lengthy excuse, or to delay such an encounter at all, then you are most likely not living in obedience to Him. If that’s the case, you’ll need to confess your sins to God, lest you miss out on the intimacy and peace He offers His people when they come to Him in the confidence of His light.

Jesus assures you that He will never leave or forsake you. God is working in your favor in many ways, even if you are afraid of His light. The goal in the end is your complete renewal so that you can see God, yourself, and others clearly and live free from shame and fear.

Prayer: Jesus, help me to boldly confess my sins so I can live in the freedom of Your light.
