"You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations." Exodus 40:15 NKJV
God instructed Israel to anoint everything in the newly constructed tabernacle, including the oil, the furnishings, the basin and its stand, and even Aaron and his sons, who would serve as priests. Everything had to be set apart before it could be used in worship.
Aaron’s sons were anointed to a priesthood that would continue for generations. In the new covenant, all Christians are considered priests. It too is a perpetual calling. First Peter 2:9 (NKJV) But you [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Christ has made you clean, so you don’t need to submit to ritual cleansings like Aaron and his sons did, but the spirit remains the same. How serious are you about your calling as the priest of your family? Are you meeting with God regularly? Are you open to correction from Him and other believers? Are you leading and guiding your family spiritually throughout the week?
Prayer: Father, I need to take my calling as the priest of my home seriously. Enable me, guide me, humble me so I may lead my family for Your glory.
