There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over Israel. Blow the ram's horn and shout, 'Long live King Solomon!' Then escort him back here, and he will sit on my throne. He will succeed me as king, for I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah." 1 Kings 1:34-35 NLT

King David needed to name his replacement. In failing health, David heard news that his son Adonijah claimed to be the new king. This move did not sit well with David.

Some sons were older, considered more handsome, and had a better claim to the throne. Yet Solomon was David’s clear choice.

The new king would have to learn fast. When God offered to give Solomon what he wanted most, he chose wisdom above riches and fame (1 Kings 3:1-15).

The great transition for Solomon wasn’t when David made him king. Instead, it was when God gave him the wisdom to lead.

The same is true for you. You begin your transformation when God gives you the tools needed to become a new creature. Seek His wisdom, follow His lead, and obey His commands.

Prayer: Dear God, I can’t transform myself. I can’t save myself. I can’t earn a pass into Your presence. Transform me through the gifts of Your grace, wisdom, and presence.
