"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do [them]. Ezekiel 26:26-27 NKJV
On December 3, 1967, a large team led by surgeon Christiaan Barnard performed the world’s first human-to-human heart transplant. This groundbreaking medical accomplishment took place at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
As incredible as this medical even was, God did something even more amazing when He saved you. At the moment you humbled yourself before Him, He replaced your old, stony heart with a new, soft heart. When He performed that spiritual heart transplant, He changed you in every way; He actually made you a completely new person. That’s what the apostle Paul referred to when he wrote, “If anyone is in Christ the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
That’s right! Through the work of His Holy Spirit, God gave you a new, undivided heart that can hear Him and respond to what He says to you. Not only that, your new heart will never fail and never need to be replaced again.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I could never thank You enough for putting a new heart in me and giving me new life. Thank You for giving me Yourself in the form of a sacrifice for my sins and for sending Your Holy Spirit so that I can be the man You’ve saved me to be.
