A Charge to Parents (Children’s Day Message) Psalms 127:1-5 V1: Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. V2: It is vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. V3: Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. V4: Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. V5: Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate Introduction:  Many parents go through worry and anxiety and stress as they attempt to raise their children while ignoring the blueprints for the family written by God.  It is wise to follow the patterns and instructions of the Lord when we bring up our children. The Architect of Parenting  When it comes to the family and parenting, we need to realize that God is the Master Architect about family life.  We run into all sorts of problems when we don’t follow God’s design and pattern for the family that’s found in Scripture.  Many parents try to build their families without paying attention to the directions of God’s Word. Application:  We need Jesus for everything, without Him we are nothing and can do nothing.  Let us try to build our families by paying full attention to the instructions of God’s Word. 2
