I said, "LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You." Psalm 41:4 NKJV
God loves to be merciful. He can heal emotional, spiritual, and physical wounds. He may not heal every wound, because some serve as reminders of what you don’t want to experience again. God loves to welcome the unshaken and hear their bold requests.
King David didn’t make perfect choices, because no man is perfect. To break God’s law means to immediately receive a guilty verdict and a death sentence. The unshaken respectfully approach God with a request for mercy—not getting a judgment they actually deserve. David’s soul was disjointed because sin caused him to fall out of step with God. The closeness he needed was slipping away. David didn’t wait. He pursued the bold choice of restoration. He admitted he was wrong.
You have the same choice and can find similar mercy. You can run, but hiding does you no good. God knows where everyone is at all times, what’s on their hearts, and what’s inflicting pain on their souls. Stand strong. Admit your guilt. Be restored.
Prayer: Father, You know everything I think, say, and do. I might hide my choices from others for a while, but I can never hide anything from You. Help me be brave enough to admit You’re right, strong enough to accept help, and unshaken enough to talk to You before I step to the sidelines in shame.
