2 Peter 2:4-7King James Version (KJV)4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved until judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 and turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemning them to destruction, having made them an example to those that should live ungodly lives; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, distressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked.

4 God has spared them for judgment, those who reject Christas Lord will also be spared until judgment but when judgment comes they aredoomed to the lake of fire. The idea of being bound in darkness is scary enoughbut to only God as a judge who condemns us is scary.

5 Noah was 8 descendents from Adam, Peter is referring tothis. We learn here something Genesis did not cover and that was that Noahpreached. He very well might of preached about the coming flood, the need toturn to God by faith, how God will protect him because he had faith anddevotion to God. Noah may have very well known about the idea of grace.

6 There may have been very cities as corrupt as the citiesof <st1:city w:st="on">Sodom</st1:city> and <st1:city w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Gomorrah</st1lace></st1:city>. They did what ever they wanted andhad no sense of morality. There are some people like this today but not eventen were unlike this in the city of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Sodom</st1lace></st1:city>.If we do not turn to God our fate is worst than the fate of the city of <st1:city w:st="on">Sodom</st1:city> and <st1:city w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Gomorrah</st1lace></st1:city>.

7 He did not allow the righteous to perish with the just. Hewill not allow us to have the same fate as those who do not have righteousness,we gain our by receiving Jesus. <st1lace w:st="on">Lot</st1lace> wasdisgusted by the actions of the city yet remained there. God may have destroyedthe city at that time to bring Lot out of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Sodom</st1lace></st1:city>.We need to be brought out this world by Christ, out of our sins and be broughtto something better, His grace.
