2 Peter 1:16-18King James Version (KJV)16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

New European Version

16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, delivered to him by such a voice from the Majestic Glory: This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice we heard, delivered out of heaven, when we were with him on the holy mount.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

16 Those the penned own the bible were not just writing tales about a man they had never seen or someone of myth but they wrote first hand what they had happen and by the Spirit were given the words to write the scripture. We need to stand of the Truth because if we do not stand for something we will fall for anything.

17 Peter here is speaking of Jesus. Peter is referring to Matt 3:17. We are given honor and glory by the Father as well but we need to go to Christ so we can be given it. We can thru Christ become sons of the Father.

18 Peter here is referring to Matt 17:5. This is when they saw Moses and Elijah speaking to Jesus. God had confirmed who Jesus was to them and by Him working in us and thru us He will confirm to us too by faith. If do not have faith we will not see what He is doing.

Blessings;
These men were eyewitnesses, just as they said.
Now, are eyewitness days over and gone? No, not at all. Within each of us we carry the testimony of Jesus Christ. Things we have heard, things we have seen, things He shows us that are yet to come, healings by His hand.......they continue.
Scripture continues to be written; as we all know, scripture is given by the inspiration of God. They are not new, they bare witness with the already written scripture.
When Jesus walked and spoke, He did not have the New Testament in His hand. He is the writer of the New Testament. Easy to see so many in unbelief. For He spoke what He heard from the Father, while only chosen few heard some things that were spoken to Him or about Him. Amen. That same unbelief is still among "believers" today, they will not receive the written Word, little own, if one comes forth speaking in Spirit and truth, just as Jesus did.
God can use a donkey, a little child that can verily speak, even a man living in unrighteousness, to talk to His child. Neither of them realize they were used by the Lord, but we the hearer, heard Him loud and clear. Amen.
When the Spirit of God and His glory rest upon us; He shines forth through us. He is alive in us, so we are vessels meet to be used of the Father; for we have been prepared by God. Amen.
I know it is a rush to be used by God; we glory IN HIM; it also drains the Spirit for virtue goes forth out of us. The Lord gives His children the most amazing rest. Amen.
All praise, honor, and glory be to God. Amen.
