Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.

amen, praise His name, the glory of those words never fades!

Eph 1:4 In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Mat9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Mat9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
Mat9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
Mat9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

In Christ we are A brand new person, to me that means we should put away our oldselves, stop living in the past, and live as brothers and sisters to Jesus.
Sometimes the past can eat us up, but now we should see ourselves as God sees us as His children.
Sometimes however a scripture is easy to remember, but it's the application that's tough, but we must keep on trying with The Holy Spirit by our side we will get there.

A modern English translation reads of Matthew 9:15-17: “The friends of the bridegroom have no reason to mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, do they? But days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. Nobody sews a patch of unshrunk cloth upon an old outer garment; for its full strength would pull from the outer garment and the tear would become worse. Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins; but if they do, then the wineskins burst and the wine spills out and the wineskins are ruined. But people put new wine into new wineskins.” What do these illustrations have to do with fasting?

Jesus was helping the disciples of John the Baptist to appreciate that no one should expect his followers to conform to the old practices of Judaism, such as ritual fasting. He did not come to patch up and prolong old worn-out systems of worship that were ready to be discarded. Christianity would not be made to conform to the Judaism of the day with its traditions of men. No, it would not be as a new patch on an old garment or as new wine in an old wineskin.

Rather, God used Jesus to institute a new system of worship, the "one faith" that the apostle Paul spoke of at Ephesians 4:5 and of which James called the "pure religion."(King James Bible) This "pure religion" is "unspotted from the world" (King James Bible), not involving itself in the corrupt political, religious, or commercialistic greed that the "world" promotes.

1 Samuel 16:7 "...The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart"

In contrast to the old wineskin, which focuses on external things, the new wineskin is all about the internal things of the human heart - our love for God, our daily relationship with Him, hearing His voice, being led by the Spirit. It is about a lifestyle of obedience to God, not just to a list of rules.

Psalm 51:6 "Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place"
