I will say this. Christianity, the way the modern world teaches it, is a sad thing. In many cases, the principle of "be ye separate" has been substituted with worldly conformance, watered down, leniency toward sin, watered down, tainted by man sort of gospels rather than the one true gospel. When people get patronized and accept it, they will even defend it. It is a shame when people defend the broad way and reject the truth.
Sadly enough many people who claim Christ deny Him through their actions. You can confess Christ all you want and still end up going to hell.
Matthew 7
13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18) a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
The totality of one's current life style says a lot. 21

evidence of truth belief will manifest itself in a believer’s life
22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Many like these people think they were doing the Lord's will when in reality they are being decieved, etheir by their own mind, or simply put, lack of knowledge
23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
And these chilling words will confront the imposters and the
Masquerade that was played
24) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
So who hears and keeps and is not just a hearer only, because Matthew 7:13-14 are directed at those who claim to be His disciples. And those that head not the word according to verse 26 and 27 will be crushed in judgment.
