9 not paying back evil with evil or insult with insult, but repaying the bad with a blessing. It was this you were called to do, so that you might inherit a blessing. 10 It is written in the psalms,
If you love life
and want to live a good, long time,
Then be careful what you say.
Don’t tell lies or spread gossip or talk about improper things.

9 We should be different the world, they look for revengeand payback but we should be as Christ and show love and forgiveness. Unlikethe world we should pray for those who cause trouble for us. We will receivethe blessings of salvation because we have accepted His grace. We also will receiveblessings of heaven.

10 We should speak as Christians and not as the world towatch the tongue is often hard. Negative views are easy to take on as aChristians because we truly see how bad the world is. We should be of cheerthough because we know who is in charge of things even through the chaos of theworld.

oh delight. clark thompson, this is a part of what God has been showing me lately concerning your message... thank you for posting, it is a blessing.

matt 5:46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

in chapter 7 of acts stephen is stoned and before he dies he prays for God not to lay this sin to thier charge. In acts 8:1 it continues Saul or Paul was consenting unto his death. This same Saul or Paul later is apprehended of God and used so mightily that a good number of the books of the new testament are written by him. My point is, you never know what God is going to do with "your enemy" so it is important to love them.

To be angry is not a sin, but being angry puts us in danger of committing sin (through word or deed). (Eph 4:2-6).
So we need to control the tongue. This requires self control.
It may be normal to get angry but it is natural, not spiritually.
Ideally the Christian will crucify his flesh to such a degree that he will not get angry when offended.
Then the Christian is in even less danger of committing a sin of words.

simply being angry may not be a sin but the bible does say to cease from anger:

psalm 37 8-10
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.


10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

I find when i am angry I am not walking in the spirit. and also I have yet to make one single decision that is good while angry. although Jesus was angry when he saw they turned Gods house into a marketplace.
