9 The Jews were chosen among all people those who receive Christare chosen as well to serve Him in a certain way according to His plan. TheJews had priests thru the line of Aaron but we as believer are made priest thruour faith in Christ. The Jews were set apart to serve the Lord as a nation, weas believers are part of the coming kingdom He will establish. We are to giveHim praise because He deserves praise. We as believers should seek to continuallypraise Him. Our praise means nothing though if we do not follow Him. Jesus isthe light of the world before we come to Him we are in darkness. After we cometo Him we see the truth which is shown by Him the Light. When we receive theLight we see things in true perspective and see ourselves as the sinners weare.

10 Before we come to the Lord we are a people wanderingaround looking for our pleasures. After we come to Him, we are following Him. Wehave His mercy which is Him not giving us what we deserve. We all deserve hellbut when we receive Jesus we are given mercy as well as grace. With this mercywe are spared from hell.

Hi clark thompson. These two verses (1 Peter 2:9, 10) raises quite a topical issue regarding whether the fleshly Jews still have God's favor.

1 Peter 2: 9, 10, (NIV), says: "9-But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10-Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

God viewed the literal nation of Israel, which descended from Abraham, as his chosen people. (Deuteronomy 7:6, NIV) However, Jesus made a startling declaration to the Jews of his day: "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit." (Matthew 21:43, NIV) Just think about what Jesus was saying here! Because Jesus knew they were going to kill him, God's son who was sent to earth to save all mankind. God would turn his attention away from the literal Jews and give his kingdom to another Nation! So who is this new nation.

Peter identified this new nation by stating: "But 'you' are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2: 9, NIV) Peter is speaking to the 1st century Christians who included Jews who had accepted Jesus as their Messiah and had become a Christian, and gentiles or non-Jews, which many accepted Jesus as their Messiah. The fact that non-Israelites were part of this new nation is made clear in verse 10, "Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God."

This special nation is referred to in Peter's opening comments, in 1 Peter 1:3, 4, which states: "3-In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4-and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you." So this nation is made up of those who go to heaven. In heaven, Revelation 20:7, (NIV) says: "They will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years." These ones make up the kingdom of God in heaven and rule mankind left over after Armageddon on the earth. They will rule these ones for 1000 years and then, Satan will be let out of prison and allowed to try and mislead mankind once more, (Revelation 20:3) before he is destroyed for ever. (Revelation 20:10) So clearly, not everyone who is saved will be going to heaven, some will be left on the earth after Armageddon.
