1 Kings 11:1-3:SOLOMON'S WIVES; King Solomon, however, loved many foreign woman besides Pharaoh's daughter-Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hitties. V2 :They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Isarelties, "You must not intermary with them, because they will surely turn your heart. After their god's." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. V3: He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. (NIV). We have a saying where I'm from about this,"ITS HARD BEING A MAN!" Okay to the text. "Sowing". Keep in mind that the sowing we do in our families today will not reap its harvest until we are gone. We all harvest seeds sown by our forebears, and sow seeds that will be reaped by descendants we will never see. The actions you take in your family can influence generations. Solomon inherited his literal genius from his father, King David. But he also inherited other things the text shows us that he "LOVED MANY FOREGN WOMAN..... From the nations of whom the Lord has said the children of Israel, "you shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you." Solomon clung to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives "TURNED AWAY HIS HEART." Solomon took the excesses of his father, David, to lower level and at the age of sixty he died a dissipated idolater whose demise was all the more tragic because of the opportunities God had set before him. Looking back at history of his family, it not hard to see the connection between the seed of David and the harvest of Solomon. "THE POWER" The good news is that the power of God can overcome the circumstances. of the past. Solomon's father was a adulterer, a polygamist, and a murder. His mother came from a pagan background and was characterized by moral weakness. One brother raped a sister, another killed the rapist and was murdered by his father's closest friend. Solomon became King through the manipulation of his mother and a prophet. Yet the Bible says he was the wisest man who ever lived, and probably the wealthiest too. Here was a man who came from a dysfunctional family. He had every reason to fail, but he rose above to become, for a time a great man. The word of God promises us that we can rise above the problem's of our past. Jesus said, " I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10 NKJV). Regardless of the pain people go through in their lives, the Lord can heal these pains and sorrow's. Therapists and material gain can't fill the cracks in your soul, but there is one Source who can-Jesus Christ. When you make him King of your life, He begins to mend the shattered pieces of your soul. May God bless you in all the thins you endeavor. Yort(TROY).
