He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

What is the life is John talking about here?
Do you have that kind of life?

The apostle Peter, at Acts 3:15, called Jesus "the Chief Agent [Greek archegos, "Prince", King James Bible] of life". Why ? Because only through God's Son, Jesus Christ, and no one else, is there the hope of "everlasting life"(1 John 5:11), whether in heaven as "kings and priests" (Rev 5:9 10) or on the earth in a Paradise.(Luke 23:43) Jesus himself said that "the Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. He that exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; he that disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him."(John 3:35, 36)

Peter later told the high priest and those in the Sanhedrin, that "the God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew, hanging him upon a stake. God exalted this one as Chief Agent and Savior to his right hand, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins."(Acts 5:31) Thus, because of Jesus obedience until death, was "exalted...as Chief Agent and Savior" to God's right hand.

The Greek term (archegos) here used means, basically, “chief leader,” a related word (Greek archon) being applied to Moses (Acts 7:27, 35) as “ruler” in Israel. Hence, as the “chief leader” or “pioneer of Life” (Moffett), Jesus Christ introduced a new and essential element for gaining eternal life in the sense of being an intermediary or go-between, but he is such in an administrative sense as well.

He is God’s High Priest who can effect full cleansing from sin and liberation from sin’s death-dealing effects (Heb 3:1, 2; 4:14; 7:23-25; 8:1-3); he is the appointed Judge into whose hands all judgment is committed, so that he judiciously administers his ransom benefits to individuals among mankind according to their worthiness to live under his kingship (John 5:22-27; Acts 10:42, 43); through him the resurrection of the dead also comes. (John 5:28, 29; 6:39, 40)

Because God so ordained to use his Son, “there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.”(Acts 4:12) Thus, "he that has the Son (or exercises faith in the Son) has this life; he that does not have the Son of God (or fails to exercise faith in Jesus like the nation of fleshly Israel) does not have this life."(1 John 5:12)

Mark 10:13,14 & 15

13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them,
"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of God.
15. " Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."

What do you think was the message that Jesus really talking about?

Hello Rob,

In Jesus saying: "Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a young child will by no means enter into it" at Mark 10:15, he established that we must imitate the humility and teachableness of young children, having a real desire to let the Bible speak for itself rather than forcing the "orthodox" teachings and traditions of the churches. All too often, individuals allow the churches to dictate what a person should believe, whether be about God, the kingdom, hellfire, and so on.

Most are either unwilling or have no real resources from which to draw on in order to "find the very knowledge of God."(Prov 2:5) It takes being "like a young child", being humble and teachable, to grasp the depth of the Bible, "even the deep things of God".(1 Cor 2:10) Unless a person has humility, the Bible is basically a closed book. Jesus said it very succinctly in prayer to his Father: "I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes."(Matt 11:25)

Thank You for your reply, what you said is great. I've been trying to find a good way to say what you did.
Brother Rob.
