Everyone has is entitled to their own beliefs,
Actually, no. Everyone is not entitled to their own beliefs.
Everyone is entitled to their own
informed beliefs. No one is entitled to his or her own ignorance.
I no longer just trust any institution
Well then you're ahead of most other people on the planet. My distrust led me to learn Greek (and a smattering of Hebrew) so that I could read the New Testament in its published language. But even then, one must be informed of history, church history, and understand just how theological presuppositions create bad translations.
Well thank you for at least answering one of my questions (although that particular one was asked in humor). And I asked because your posts have come across as very anti-technology, anti-medicine, and anti-science. I will note, though, that you hadn't address the important issue:
Why medicine? Would you never see a doctor or use a hospital if you needed to? Would you spit out penicillin? Refuse a blood transfusion like the JWs do?
To which I received a rather sarcastic reply -
My Faith is in God only ...
When you posted this -
Were you actually asking a serious question? Or was I wrong when reading your post as a condemnation in the form of a question, given the other parts of that post?
WHY is Almighty God's SUN not enough?
WHY is Almighty God's BEEF not good enough?
WHY GMO?
WHY WHY WHY ... in an "upside down" World ... turn to the Truth of Jesus Christ!
I don't see where it was an assumption to think that one posting such a thing
wouldn't be anti-technology, anti-medicine, and anti-science. (Like the Amish.)
Like it or not, there is no such thing as "God's Beef," as if we have any cattle that hasn't undergone significant breeding changes over the millennia since Eden. Same with sheep, pigs, and chickens. Same with wheat. While GMO typically refers to genetic alteration in a laboratory, ranchers and farmers have been altering the genetic composition of animals and plants by "natural means" for (again) thousands of years - and that would include wheat from Europe that while not altered in the lab, it still
was altered (cf.
Gregor Mendel).
As an example, I give you
Einkorn Wheat
Sorry you jump to conclusions because of experiences you have had with the Amish,
I jumped to
QUESTIONS because of my experience with the Amish. I hadn't concluded anything about you, except that your posts present a person who comes across as very anti-technology, anti-medicine, and anti-science. (Like the Amish.)
But in my defense, I also mentioned the JW's who wanted me to die instead of receiving a life saving blood transfusion. So what's your view? The JW's prohibit any of their members to have blood transfusions because their "Faith is in God only ..."
And I know of certain Charismatic cults, when practicing their beliefs about Faith Healing, reject medicine and technology because that would be rejecting a "Faith in God only." And it's usually the children that die because medical treatment is denied by their parents because of their "Faith in God only." When I said above that "Everyone is
not entitled to their own beliefs," I'm thinking of the court cases that remove children from their parents who deny their children medical attention because of their religious beliefs and their "Faith in God only." Hemophilia runs in my family, so when I hear of a (local) case where these religious nut jobs caused the death of their child with hemophilia because they were so sure their prayers and faith in God would heal their child, I'm not against them receiving a prison sentence.
As I have said before, I am not into debates, because I do believe that we all have our own points of view.
Not debating. Just asked about your own point of view.
Are you anti-technology, anti-medicine, and anti-science?
Let me know if you want.
