I've been a Christian since 1987. I've studied, taught, and experienced the Word of God.

I do not identify with any denomination, nor do I pigeonhole my belief into categories of doctrines. I personally find titles and labels to be meaningless; thus, I only refer to myself as an indentured servant to identify who I am.

I have translated scripture for many years, both Hebrew and Greek, and have written numerous scripture-based studies, articles, essays, and devotionals.

Lastly, I'm seeking calm, mature discussions on the Word of God. I don't argue or debate Scripture. If I contribute to a topic, then please accept it as such. If I feel as if I'm being set up for debate, or forced into a debate, please understand that I will just leave, as I have no desire to entertain argumentative, or otherwise aggressive, "Christians."

If this forum requires debate above rational discussion and learning, I'll quietly disappear. No loss to anyone...

Hey hi :) Welcome. I'm also new to this site. I can tell you that I have used the "Ignore" feature, and it is good. I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for, IS. God bless you on your journey.
Thanks for the heads-up. Truth is, if I have to "ignore" more than two people, that's my red flag to shake the dust off my feet.

Please excuse my lack of eloquence... I hear what you're typing and posit this: Even three out of an entire site of almost 13 thousand isn't a third out of Heaven, and Gabriel didn't kick himself out of Heaven for it. If that makes comparable sense, and I hope it does. I mean, please stay. You already seem like someone whose golden nuggets of insight will bless others here.

I think of the "Ignore" feature like Acts 16:16-18... No pearls are wasted, and we can continue to share our testimonies as God intends. Christ is The Redeemer, so even the misled and the possessed have a chance. :)

Your words are meaningful. Thank you for the encouragement.

My comment about "more than two ignores" is really just my way of saying three strikes and you're out... or rather, "I'm out.", haha.

But, I'm patient and willing to observe and maybe post meaningful passages of Scripture to 'test the waters.'

No worries, I'm sure I'll enjoy contributing to the forum.

Welcome bud.

Good luck with not debating!! :D ;)

If you read someone typing nonsense you will not be able to hold yourself back from wanting to correct them. And that is not a bad thing!

Hi Welcome to the mix.

"It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel." -Proverbs 20:3

That proverb does not apply to inevitable debate from 1. Teaching, 2. Contending for the truth, 3. Correction of error, 4. Exposing false teaching and 5. Sharpening one another's swords. Sure we have those here who like to quarrel. But they stand out like a sore thumb and most know to put them on ignore.

Jude 1:3 I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saint.

2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living.

1 Thess 5:21 But test everything; hold fast what is good.

2 Pet 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies.

1 Cor 2:15 But he who is spiritual judges all things

-----------------

This is the internet. If you post something you should prepare yourself for interrogation. Paul would constantly contend for the truth. He would often engage in open debate at Mars Hill.

Sometimes, most times, we think what we hold to is true and sound. We can all be fooled. So much false teaching around today.

Internet or not, this is a Christian site, and I don't think it's wrong to expect we treat each other with love and respect.

My issue isn't with people "contending for their faith." However, I do take exception to people who spend so much time and effort to tell me that I don't understand scripture .... Like you are doing right now.

Strike 1

My issue isn't with people "contending for their faith." Clearly it is. You use a verse that speaks about strife and quarreling

However, I do take exception to people who spend so much time and effort to tell me that I don't understand scripture .... Like you are doing right now.

The mystery word faith It must be properly understood as it is written

I would offer we are not to look to the things seen the temporal historical but are to look or walk by faith as Let there be power after the eternal spiritual words of Christ Holy Spirit wand not faithless dying mankind

If believers were contending for their own human faith as a belief or understanding and not the mutual powerful faith of Christ as it is written the eternal not seen , Then it would be all about flesh and blood against flesh the temporal dying seen

Romans 1:12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. (Chrsit in us)

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit (Christ) of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Many teach God does not have or need faith as a labor of His Love .The. . . Let there be power and it was good testimony .

He calls the unredeemed "no faith" not little but none that comes from hearing the words of Christ' faith .

Deuteronomy 32:20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. (not a little none)

Huh!?

How is this mini bible study pertinent to what I wrote?

I quoted someone's use of the word "faith," and this triggered you to submit a Twilight Zone-ish bible study with no explanation as to why.....

I've recently posted a very spiritually provocative topic with no responses, but everybody seems to prefer to school me or debate the topic of "me" in my own introduction...

In fact, I've noticed the majority of posted topics on this site have had no replies.

I find no depth of wisdom or insight offered by members on this site. No real discussion, no interest in the deeper things of God, and absolutely no godly interactions on biblical topics.

I won't wait for Strike Three... This is a very unusual forum...

Hello Indentured Servant,
Welcome and I fear it is also good-bye to your stay on Talk Jesus, which is a community of believers in Christ Jesus. If at times a bit dysfunctional. :(
Sadly, you have been baited, and in staying I am sure there are those who will seek to draw you into conversations that will test your metal and love of not only God's Word, but of the Lord Himself if that were possible.

I await your response to my Private Message on the closure of your account.
Fair well in your travels and what I believe would have been a calming voice, be assured you will be missed, but only for the moment. For eternity is a long long time not to run into each other in Christ Jesus. :)

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Shake the dust of your feet it's not a onetime thing, Dig those cleats in a little deeper as things of our invisible Holy Father .

You revealed as it seems you do not understand the meaning of how the word faith (power) is used.

Hello Indentured Servant, and Welcome to the Forum,
I am fairly new to this forum myself, and relate to and share your concerns.
There are some seriously knowledgeable people, who are extremely gifted in writing and getting their points across simply and clearly. These people that you will soon experience yourself, are Professional, Kind and Godly.
As you have experienced elsewhere, there are the odd people here, who are a bit rough around the edges, and probably are not aware of how they come across. This is minor in comparison to what you can get out of the excellent posts, and great fellowship.
With your sensitivity and dedication to the Gospel of Jesus, I am sure that you will add your personal touch, and enjoy this forum.
We are all here to learn to be more like Jesus : )
Hope to see you around, take care, and Blessings from Linda

Thanks for the heads-up. Truth is, if I have to "ignore" more than two people, that's my red flag to shake the dust off my feet.
Hang in there, we are all here to learn from each other (even the rough around the edges, who do not think before answering posts : )
I felt the same the first week, and I am now glad that I "stayed the mile" because there are some real Gems on this forum : )
Take care, Linda

So well said Gothedral : )
Bless You!

KingJ,
I feel I must put my two cents worth in here ...
"Interrogation" is not what most of us want on this Christian Forum.
I should not be a "free-for-all" slinging match that you find on ordinary internet sites.
Unfortunately this happens, and I am certianly going to try the "ignore" button, instead of reacting.
However, I see that Intendured Servant is handling things just fine : )
Respect and sensitivity go a long way though!
Best Wishes going forward, Linda
