Then they said to one another, "We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come; let us go and tell the king's household." 2 Kings 7:9 ESV
Today’s key verse is the fifth time the bible says someone is not doing right. This is the sixth time God’s Word uses the wonderful phrase good news. The implication is clear: the right and best thing is to tell good news!
Today’s key verse is the second time scripture uses the word silent. And it’s the second to last time it uses the phrase morning light. The implication is clear: tell good news now, without delay. Why? Because everyone from gatekeepers to the king needs and wants to hear good news!
Toss the idea that the vast majority of people don’t want to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Many do! And what is that Good News? First, who Jesus is: eternally true God, who came to earth two thousand years ago, lived a perfect life, taught for scores of hours, performed hundreds of miracles, and fed thousands of people.
Second, that Jesus did: died for you and your sins, was buried, rose again the third day, and appeared to His followers for nearly six weeks (1 Corinthians 15:1-7).
Prayer: Lord, You are the Good News. May I talk about You again soon!
