Some people have a gift at helping people to increase their faith. The Word of Faith movement is good at that and it is why they have many followers.

Yeah, again, "faith" is one of the most abused words in English like "love“ or ”freedom”. You gotta point out what exactly you have faith in, like what exactly you love or what exactly you're free to do. One thing to note is that genuine faith is active and PROactive, which means you act according to your faith instead of reacting to the circumstances. Even if it's just baby steps, your accumulated effort will be rewarded, and that's what differentiates it from the empty "word" of faith, for faith without work is dead.I try to stay away from people who throw the English word “Faith”around like it is an “Adsolute”!
They throw it around especially “Word of Faith” centric people and those who are young In the contents of The Bible.
If you ever notice I use it very careful the English word Faith, and you always can tell when a child of God Has never read a solid copy of “THE PILGRIM’S Progress” how they use the English word Faith. they never Learn the biblical meaning “Trust GOD”. They always say “Faith” they used the word Faith for every thing, loosely.
These kind of people are dangerous to themselves and those who hear them. It only ship wrecks them in the long run. Everytime. Because of The way they use English.
The English Word must be Used Properly when referring to The Bibical Text within “Holy Scripture”.

And sometimes when some use The Word Faith, I cannot believe what I am hearing coming out of Their mouth. Like GOD has Told Them To not Use Their Brain on certain matters. To go dumb blank!
They could not had meant that, but they used the word Faith at that point. And didn’t know what they were really saying.
You stop and you shake your head for minute then they Rattle off another word “Faith” and before long 7 -8 words and use the word “Faith” at lightening speed. And each point that faith is either a worldly faith or a “Vain Faith”0r a religious faith, or a non-thinking faith that can create something out of nothing. With no “Hope” in it.
And they will state it can move mountains.
Cause you can ask them is their faith is greater than a mustard seed right there on the spot!
They will fire back “YES”!
I know I question them..
I just sit there and look at them. And do not say one word.
“you “Trust GOD” no matter what happens!
Yes, do we “Hope” yes it does not mean it will come to pass. But we Trust Him, “Life or Die”, “stay sick or Get well” “win or Lose” good,we “Trust him” win or lose it is for our Good!
The rent or mortgage don’t get paid, Good, we Trust HIm”!
“Let it be known O King, our GOD is Able To Delivery us From The Fiery Furnace and If He Don’t, he is able”

Speaking of the faith of a mustard seed, you've probably never heard of this, that the parable of a mustard seed was told as a cautionary tale in a NEGATIVE sense. A mustard seed can only grow into a bush or a shrub, there's never such a thing as "mustard TREE" in nature. It grows into a tree because that faith is bloated and bubbling, it goes beyond its natural capacity, and as a result, it attracts these birds, which are unclean spirits according to the parable of the sower. This was a warning against those megachurches, religious organizations and christian networks, you know. In other countries, churches are these small underground groups based in local communities, just like the early churches, and that's the appropriate size of a mastard "bush" or "shrub". PS. I remember one time a long time ago a old pastor said if I had enough “FAITH”I could Jump through that brick wall!
That was when The Word of Faith movement was going Strong!! taking all our Money!
If you had enough Faith, you could jump off The “Grand Canyon” and Fly!
Just like Peter walked on Water!
Just Believe!

But the hot pursuit of a lost soul who never heard the salvation story.
And so sad, more people today in these united have never heard the plain story about Jesus, just the plain Ordinary story as recorded in the Bible.
And that is sad.

I can walk down the street or go in Grocery store and ask anybody, you will give them a $100.00 to tell you a Quick Story about Jesus being born and some of the Things he said and done according to what is written in the Bible and what he said in his last hours on earth and what happen on the Third day and what did he do until he went back to heaven, . Tell it in one hour correctly you would give them $100.00.
You might find one.
A lot of people have not heard the salvation story in The USA.
I know I have ask and told strangers things about Jesus and they said they have heard nothing like that before.
We as a whole has done a bad job in presenting Jesus and a good Job in presenting our Churches.

I originally started this thread to show what the definition of faith was not, not so much what it is.

You probably came to that conclusion from reading the Bible. Scripture declares Elohym(God) is proposing. He is becoming all things in everyone and will receive the glory. Man is lost and can not save/heal/make-whole/deliver himself. Salvation is a gift not sort after or desired by man, for he is totally ignorant(rejecting) of the Truth. He has to be recreated by his Creator, which man has no idea how His(Elohym) creation is accomplished. It is written for his(man) understanding what the Almighty-One is doing, but he(man) prefers darkness rather than the Light. “The flesh(mankind) is lusting against the Spirit(Truth) and the Spirit(Truth) against the flesh.” The Truth is not perceived by man, consider Nicodemus, Jn. 3. Now because of what the Anointed-One has done and is doing, all of mankind “will come to the knowledge of the Truth. Presently the Spirit(Truth) is being written on our hearts, a promise being kept by our Savior. He is speaking and surely as He has thought, so shall it come to pass; and as He has purposed, so shall it stand. And the Word that is going forth from His mouth, it will not return, and is not returning, to Him void, but rather has accomplished and is accomplishing what He desires, and prospers in what He sends it. For He is speaking; “I am Yahuah, and there is no Savior apart from Me. I Myself speak and save/heal/make-whole/deliver and proclaim, there is no alien-one in you. You are My witness(mark) declares Yahuah, I am Almighty(All Power). The witness(mark) of the Savior is the Spirit of prophecy. Psalm 117; 2 Tim. 2:15,16; 3:16,17

You think too much about it, that's just a common saying. Men can make all kinds of plans, but whether that works of not, it's up to God who has declared the end from the beginning.
Yes an accepted trivial saying that man utters. Meaningless and vain, a vexation of Spirit(Truth). But, we are to accept and speak the Truth, which man is ignorant of. And this is why the Truth comes to mankind to discard those trivial sayings and cause one to begin to speak the Truth in love. Let he who has an ear, hear what the Spirit(Truth) is saying. And utter the plan our Father is giving us speak. The Anointed-One in you, the expectation of glory(resurrection-life). Psalm 117; 2 Tim. 2:15,16; 3:16,17

Truth is the belt, both the breast plate and the sword are attached to it. Without truth, everything else falls apart.
I gotta admit, man, you guys speak Christianese so well, I can throw out a few references or quote a few verses here and there, but I could never catch up with your lingo.
And this is why faith alone can not save, heal, make-whole or deliver mankind,. As we all know “faith without works is dead.” Thus the works of man will not save/heal/make-whole/deliver him from death to life, it is the faithful work of our Savior, Yakuah through the Anointed-One, Yahusha HaMashiach. Let he who has an ear, hear what the Spirit is saying. Psalm 117; 2 Tim. 2:15,16; 3:16,17
