@Jakesoulatstake,
In all of those verses, it is not said to work for money.
Rather work for the Lord spreading the gospel (what Jesus teaches )
The scriptures I presented said nothing about spreading the Gospel or referred to it. Those scriptures talked about working to make a living so a person didn't have to steal. They were told to work so they could eat.
Jesus is not against a person making money, He is against a person putting their heart in the money they make. This is what Matthew 6:24 is talking about; serving money and worrying about it. The disciples were working for money and Jesus Himself was among them when they sold and made money, Judas confirms this.
John 12:3
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
John 12:4
Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
John 12:5
Why was not this ointment "sold for three hundred pence," and given to the poor?
Simon proposed this question to Jesus! Jesus didn't say, don't work for money. If Jesus was against making money He would not take part with them. He would not have positive input and give wisdom of what to do with the money you make (Luke 16). Jesus will not contradict Himself and teach a believer how to live in something He believes is evil. For instance, when Jesus was asked should a person pay taxes, Jesus said, give unto Caesar that which is Caesars, and unto The Lord that which is The Lords (Mat.22:16-22). Jesus made a distinction between the two; one included making money. Taxes come through a person making money for a living. This happened also with Peter. Jesus told Peter to go and the first fish that came up, it would have the "money" to pay the taxes. Jesus abided by the financial structure of the world.
Matthew 17:24
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Matthew 17:25
He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Matthew 17:26
Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Matthew 17:27
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
If Jesus was against men having money or even being rich, God would not have allowed Joseph of Arimathaea to take the body of Jesus and have it buried in a rich man's tomb (Mat. 22:57). God doesn't act against His will. Jesus didn't prevent His followers from buying and selling for money. Jesus Himself was a friend of tax collectors who made big money. Jesus also knew He would die, but He said the "expensive perfume" (that others worked for and sold for money) was for His burial (Matthew 26:8-13).
