God didn't have to let Noah build the ark. He surely didn't need Noah to build the ark by any stretch of the imagination. There was the salvation of all humanity resting upon Noah in a sense. For the Messiah must have to come through the bloodline of Adam, and if Adam's lineage ceased, salvation for all his offspring would no longer be possible. There was no chance of Noah failing, because God was working in him, "both to will and to work for his good pleasure." Noah didn't know this. He just knew that the Lord commanded him to preach righteousness and to build the boat exactly as he was told. He did it, because he had faith to believe.

God didn't have to let Noah build the ark, but he did. He doesn't have to use us to preach the gospel, to reach the lost, to bind up the broken hearted, but he does. He doesn't need as at all, he is totally and completely self-sufficient in an eternal way. But, he is Love. And in his love and mercy and grace, he allows us to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling..."


We appreciate it that much more when we have a stake in the process. I believe one of the reasons why God allows us to have such a part and a responsibility in bringing about our own salvation is that it brings that much more meaning to it for us. Also, we learn more about who God is by going through such things. He doesn't need us to help at all, in fact He paid it all on the cross over 2000 years years ago. But in his grace, he lets us run the race.

Noah was actually commanded to build the ark, not asked or allowed to. God could have performed a 100% new creation on earth with no beings from the past, including angels. But, there was that man Noah the Lord would not turn his back on, a man finding grace from God.
Because Noah was favored, his family was blessed to continue to exist.

By the manner of God choosing to reckon lineage through males (patriarchal genealogy) Jesus had no earthly father, was not of the seed of Adam. Noah was, who had a natural father Lamech. Jesus' seed is straight from God. He has always been the heavenly High Priest, his earthly priests meant for ministering of his gospel, so in fact it is necessary for earthly priests to do the preaching to natural people, seeing the angels desire to investigate the glorious salvation we preach by the Spirit, and the prophets seeing only glimpses of it coming (1 Pet 1:10-12). All people (lower than angels) that receive the gospel are the perfect choice to preach it, being the heirs of salvation.

With his own hands he built the Ark? Yes, even so. God gave him the directive and the blueprint, but the man built it. Is it different now?
Jesus calls us forth out of death:

"And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth." John 11:43

But, when we have our Life renewed we still have work to do. We have Life but we are still bound up in the ways of death:

And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go." John 11:44

OK, so what do you think I am wrong about?
Who of all the other humans found grace in the eyes of the Lord?
What alternative to save anyone from the flood was indicated in scriptures before the advent of Jesus?

I believe God likes to work with his own laws of physics and personal attributes, and was determined to destroy all remaining life forms that breath air because that's what he told Noah..
Would anyone put trust into an alternative rescue by putting Noah and family on some clouds, or another planet, or in heaven during the flood?

I don't think God needs any of us when it comes down to it.
But the question isn't "could" God do it (I'm sure he could have).
The question was "would" Noah do it. Obviously he found favor in the eyes of God, and I don't doubt God knows
the future and all that, but just the same.. it seemed to be a test of obedience for Noah.

Not disagreeing with you that it was a test of sorts. Many things are tests for us. Would you agree with me that there was a lot more than just Noah and his family's lives at stake in the whole matter though? That God was doing something much bigger than just physically saving Noah and testing Noah's obedience?

How about keeping his word to Satan and to the serpent used of him in Genesis 3:15 (KJV) 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. ?

That spoke of both parties that deceived her, Satan being father of the children of the devil, and Jesus, seed of the woman and of God (not Adam), first born of the children of God, with considerable enmity between them. Perhaps God held off his wrath against a world full of "Conan the Barbarian" giants until finding one man that would do his will.

Genesis 6

10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

There must be an errror here obviously since one can only draw the conclusion from verse 10 that Noah had begat his sons prior to verse 13 since verse 12 contains the passage that God looked upon the earth and found it corrupt.

Therefore, now reading the remainder of the passage from verse 13 it would tend to represent that God had acknowledged that He would establish his covenant with all flesh when Noah's sons and their wives when they enter the ark. However, while God foretold what he was do, he also promised to Noah the covenant that would be established with Noah and those with him. Yet many refute the Noah son's where even born at the time God spoke to Noah about the flood. While those who refute that the sons of Noah had even yet been born, it seems that there be some scriptural basis that could be cited but none is.

I see Noah as being a picture of Christ, and the family of his with him in the ark as being a picture of true believers. If this is an accurate representation, then it is OK to have Christ build the ark (which ark is a representation of God's eternal covenant with the true believers) since Christ did the work of saving the true believers when he went to the cross. The true believers only rest, in the sense that Christ did all the work. I haven't read the story lately, but I think most likely the Bible does not record anything about the other members of Noah's family doing the building of the boat, just Noah. Also, Noah's name means 'rest', if I remember correctly. This is because by building the ark (providing God's eternal covenant by way of the cross), Noah (A picture of Christ), gave rest from their effort to achieve salvation. Christ did all the work of saving his true believers and the true believers just rest in that sense. Also, the sabbath is a picture of this in shadow form, such that we rest while Christ does all the work when it comes to saving us. The sabbath is a day of rest to point to this. Also, the sabbath is said to be the same time as the tribulation period (Matthew 24:20-21), and the tribulation period is what the flood is a picture of, the flood which the story of Noah's ark points to in end time scenario.

Noah and his family were saved from the flood that God brought upon the Whole World by being in an ark made of wood. When He says, "to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die," I think he means Everything, not just everything in one area of the world, or everything over here, but not over there. When God created Adam he gave him authority over all the works of his hands. Adam was now in charge of this earth, and God was its owner. The Lord God could not just do anything he wanted as he gave man authority over all the earth. The Lord God needed a man from which would give him authority to work. This is why God always had a man in which to work through. Noah was a man which believed God, in which gave God the right to bring the flood upon this earth. Noah's faith moved the hand of God to bring his will on the earth. Jesus came as a man, and it was through this man who had authority as being a man to bring about God's will of salvation for us.
