Roman Catholic Charismatic church?

I'm sure because I know a lot of Catholics that speak in tongues and believe in healers.

You brought up gifts of the spirit.
Is it a cult because they speak in tongues and believe in healers?

Nah, I'm just saying. Catholics do believe in that, so it's not really different than any other Catholic church. Most the Catholics I know are Charismatic. Mormons speak in tongues too, so I guess you'd call them Charismatic also. Not all Catholics, Mormons and Christians speak in tongues.

Please read this first to understand the difference in Catholic teaching and pure Holy bible teaching: http://www.talkjesus.com/bible-study-hall/5886-christian-catholic.html?highlight=catholic+christian

Remember this also...

James 2:1-3
1My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
2For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
3And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

GOD loves all people, those who follow Him receive His grace. Basically, denominations means nothing according to the Grace of GOD. What makes a difference within such denominations is the specific individual's sincerity in loving GOD or not.

I don't see why you are discussing tongues and healing here...these are not the deciding factors.Cody, have'nt we discussed enough about tongues?Do you still doubt it? How much more powerful and effective the global church would have been had it opened up and received the amazing gifts that have been released when Jesus defeated death.

And as for the denomination thingy...don't you'll think we should focus more on the life saving message than argue? Yes ofcourse we're asked to test spirits and prove all things, but more than that we're required to preach the gospel.

I used to argue a lot over the different doctrines of the denominations earlier, but I realized that it was pointless.Nothing good was coming out of it.Instead I started focussing my energies on preaching Jesus to the people who have'nt even heard the name of Jesus. There are soooooooo many people like that here...broken...seeking love...And more than any of us, God's Spirit will open the eyes of the people who've been taught in a wrong way.Our discussions are not gonna change anything...Let's begun praying and surrender all beliefs before God.Let's get out of the mould.Let's allow the Spirit to work in our lives and in the lives of people who we think are wrong.

God bless you all.:girl_hug:

The gifts aren't really the focus. The Catholic doctrine is corrupt. They teach things that aren't biblical. We should go by the Bible alone, not a church tradition.

What you think about Roman Catholic Charismatic and is like a cult..

All I know about the Roman Catholics is that they are no different then the regular Catholics are, except the Priest of the Roman Catholics Churches do not allow there members to read The Holy Bible.

They are only allowed to listen to their Priest while he reads it.

Other than that, they all still bow down & pray in front of statues & pray with thier wooden beads & hale mother mary.

I am sorry but that isn't true. Also they don't pray to Mary, they just ask her to pray for them, just like I would ask you to pray for me.

They might have some things wrong but I believe they are Christians. They worship God only!
They are allowed to read Bible.

I have a Roman Catholic friend and I know she is saved.

I grew up going to catholic church and the mass did not consist of us praying in front of statues with wooden beads. And I don't recall reciting the hail Mary at any time during the mass. We prayed the Lord's prayer. I prayed to Jesus Christ at the catholic church.

My apologies to you all, if what I said seems to be -or- is false to any point of views you may have.

I only spoke what I believed to be true & factual.

Perhaps, now, today this may be true.

But a good 17 years agoe, when I was married to a Roman Catholic from Vietnam, this statement I made happen to be true.

They really beieved it would have been a sin to read out of The Holy Bible.

And were only allowed to listen to their Priest to read from it -or- to answer questions relating from The Holy Bible.

I never said that they are not Christians.

But some Catholics do sit in front of statues & pray.

My husband {today} has Catholic background & he say his grandmother would stop at every site along the road if she saw a statue of Jesus & mother mary Pray hale mary & would make her children do the same.

I apologize, if my statement is false, but the way I always was told is;
there is Catholics & then there is the Roman Catholics.

The Roman Catholics are much more srict with there rules then the regular Catholics are.

In regards to Catholic & Roman Catholic, each church and nation has their own perspective so us debating on what they believe and don't believe would be pointless.

Please read the link that Chad posted about Catholics. We've already discussed this.

As for the speaking in tongues, I'm a non-denominational Christian and I can speak in tongues, but I'm not part of a cult. I have seen healing with my own eyes and I'm not part of a cult. Let's not judge those who have been given a gift from God.

No problem at all, Jonah
I particularly like what Chad said in his post about God loving all people and those that follow Him receive his Grace. After all, only God knows what is in our hearts.

The issue is not about what religion is right or wrong but what God's Word teachers. The sign gifts are no longer in effect.

Good point sister. Each catholic congregation (church building) may promote hail mary prayers or may not. They may promote statues or not. But, they ARE there one way or another. They are wrong teachings and very deadly.

Amen, only GOD knows our hearts. At the same time, we also [must] know what the Word says because it is what GOD says directly. If we obey, good. If not, then we're hypocritical "christians".

The issue is not about what religion is right or wrong but what God's Word teachers. The sign gifts are no longer in effect.

Since when is the sign gifts no longer in effect? That is false. If an unbeliever goes to a bible based church and witnesses a crowd praying in tongues, is this no effect of a sign of the Holy Ghost?

1Cr 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

The written Word of God replaced the sign gifts. There is no where in scripture that encourages us to seek after tongues.

1Cr 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1Cr 14:2 For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
