Formula for forgiveness

1) We must remember that although we betrayed God and sinned against Him He died for our sins. In other words, He the victim, compensated for the offenses we the affenders committed against Him.
2) We can accept God's forgiveness only if believe in His forgiveness by forgiving others the way He forgave us. We must, therefore,
compensate for the offenses of our offenders against us by our prayers and sacrifices. We must sacrifice our pride by not holding the offenses against them. We must also go out of our way to help those who hurt us.
3) When we find it impossible to forgive, we must ask Jesus to take control of our life and do it for us.

I disagree with your third point. A true believer never finds it impossible to forgive; difficult maybe, but impossible? never

"But if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But, if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Mt 6:14-15)

Nowhere does the Scripture ever say Jesus will do our forgiving for us. Sins are committed against God and men. Jesus purchased God's forgiveness for men on the cross. We humans have to give our own forgiveness to those who sin against us. We cannot opt out of God's Circle of Forgiveness/Love and still expect to receive his forgiveness.

Amen SLE, very good I agree with you and God's word.
Matthew 18:23-35
23 “For this reason, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him. 24 In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars.* 25 He couldn’t pay, so the king ordered that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt. 26*But the man fell down before the king and begged him, ‘Oh, sir, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.’ 27*Then the king was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt.
28*“But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars.* He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. 29 His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time. ‘Be patient and I will pay it,’ he pleaded. 30*But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested and jailed until the debt could be paid in full.
31 “When some of the other servants saw this, they were very upset. They went to the king and told him what had happened. 32*Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me. 33*Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’ 34 Then the angry king sent the man to prison until he had paid every penny.
35*“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters* in your heart.

You can read about forgiveness here too.

Also this thread has a lot of information on the subject too.

Forgiveness is a choice we make not a feeling. We choose by our free will to forgive the person so that we are set free from them and forgiven by God.

Here is another thread on the subject:

We must attempt to forgive!

But, My wife was raped and more by her father !

She hated HIm and did not want to for give him!

She had fits like , where she wanted to hurt others , thinking some how it was him.

I told her she Must ask the LORD to replace that hate with love for her dad.

She prayed and did as i asked her!

after that , she no longer hated her dad and never had a fit again!

hate can hurt us much . not for giving can also!

We do not have the power to do this many times in our selves.
We need our LORD to do this within us many times!

We will always need HIM , in every part of our lives here and HE is more than willing , if we only ASK HIM!

I think? We need to ask HIM much in our lives, many times we suffer or have problems , needlessly !

He is waiting 24/7 for us to ask anything. He longs to teach us and guide us and HE only wants good for us in our lives!

He can and will change our thinking if we ask HIM!

Not easy for some to forgive certain evils!
We need the LORD always in our lives and in every part of our lives!

I pray in the name of JESUS CHRIST, this will bless others and our LORD , JESUS CHRIST!

Perfectly said brother Ed. Scripture never says Jesus will forgive others on our behalf. That's actually a foolish statement. I may as well not forgive anyone and expect Christ to forgive others on my behalf, as if Him dying on the cross the most unimaginable brutal death was not enough for me.

Please, do not post something or make statements that has nothing to do with Scripture. The forum rules clearly state to back up your statements with Scripture. If you cannot find Scripture to back it up, do not post for the sake of the least who are learning.

My bible says?
If we ASK ANYTHING.

Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

I agree that Jesus will give you the strength and grace necessary to be able to forgive others, if that is what your saying, but I agree with Chad and SLE that Jesus does not do it for us,. if He did, it would make His statements about forgiving others a lie and He can not lie.

Bottom line, if we refuse to forgive others Father will not forgive us.

Lets not play with words and scripture pasages. Obviously, if we ask Jesus to do it for us, it means that we truely want to forgive. Everything that is good, that we do, is by allowing God to work through us. We have to say "yes", like Mary said; and then we have to say, "be it done unto me according to your will".

The truth is found in the scriptures and you need to back up what you say with scripture as already pointed out to you by Chad:

If you read the links I posted you will see that forgiveness is something we choose to do as an act of our will and Jesus will help us to want to forgive others but we have to actually work through the process of forgiving them. Telling Jesus that we forgive them or He will not forgive us.

I do not want to argue, But , evil things happen , that a person has a very hard time accepting and forgiving!

We may need the LORD to help us!
If you think ? He will not help us , then i guess in Your mind ? He does not.

But,I know He helped my wife.

If you think that is a lie!
Praise the LORD!

Every time i post , You find fault?

Praise the LORD!

The one playing with Scripture is you, no one else. Scripture makes it clear, you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven. Don't dare try to sway around Scripture, GOD's living word just to sugar coat your own personal problems with forgiving others. As for "be it done according to your will" is GOD's will for us to forgive others. If you "truly want to forgive", then what on earth is stopping you from forgiving that person "truly" directly? Don't be so foolish.

How dare you even say otherwise. You want to PROVE that Jesus can forgive others on our behalf, show me Scripture or otherwise, don't preach gibberish. You have quite some audacity to even dare say that Jesus will forgive others on our behalf. That's out of line, out of scripture and even the sound of it is absolutely foolish.

Well of course , The LORD wants us to forgive!
But, it is not that easy to do many times!
And We NEED HIM to help us!

My son was killed a few years ago.
Long story short!
A couple nurses did it on purpose!
And admitted to me and the doctor!

Well they covered it up quickly, I guess i could have got the police ?

But, it took a long time to get over it.

still bothers me?

he was 26 years old, nice young guy!
Always trying to help others!

But,He was also trying to fit in with the world.

He never did or could!

I warned him for a couple of years!

Before he had died 100% , they already had his body parts sold .

They get $30,000 , so i was told by one of the nurses for a healthy young body ,

lots of people die in this hospital here!

i thought? You kill my boy , then want me to sign a paper giving you the right to sale his parts .

Never happen!

Listen maybe your got more going than me?

But , I need HIM for everything in my life!
I can do nothing without HIM.
I depend on HIm for every breath i take!

2Co 13:4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

We ALL have weaknesses in our body and mind , we really do need HIm always in everything we do.

We are not playing around with Scripture verses here. The Bible is very clear on this issue.

Truly wanting to forgive means nothing if we do not take the initiative and do the forgiving. "But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Mt 6:15)

"Have mercy upon me, O God,
according to Your lovingkindness;
according to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
blot out my transgressions,
wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against You, You only, have I sinned,
and done this evil in Your sight -
That You may be found just when You speak,
and blameless when You judge" (Psalm 51:1-4).

Your wrong !
We can only attemp to do things in life!
We need HIm 100% in our lives in everything we do!

Yes HE wants us to forgive and we must make the effort!

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Maybe your greater than me ?
Maybe you could watch your family destoried and say? I forgive them LORD1

Not everyone on earth could do that!

I know I NEEDED THE LORDS HELP TO FORGIVE.

As Also my wife did!

You can handle that all my yourself ? GREAT!

Maybe , I just need HIm much more than you guys???

Nobody claimed that we do the forgiving all by ourselves. You said it yourself by quoting Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." which means that I initiate the forgiving and and it is completed through the strength that Christ supplies, but I must initiate the forgiving.

All sins are committed against God and some sins are committed against men.Jesus Christ purchased God's forgivess for us on the cross but, scripture is clear - we must also forgive those who sin against us or God cannot forgive us our sins.

"God is Love. (1 Jn 4:9). Forgiveness is an expression of love. Unforgiveness is an expression of hate, which is the opposite of his love nature, therefore, he cannot tolerate it.

YES, That is correct ED. We need the LORD in every part of our lives here on earth!'

I would not want to live without HIM.
In fact ? I told HIm that once, And proved to HIm, I met it once!

No need to explain that!

It is good, you see we can do nothing without HIM!
