:rose: Hello and bless you. Just wonder how so many of you amazing Christians manage to retain so much of the written word, the passages, etc.... I have read and read and read the bible and I am still always vague when it comes to remembering where the passage that is in my heart and mind, is located. I completely love the simple way the Word, rests in my heart, but I struggle to recall where the passage came from. (I am pretty sure it is a bit of a learning disorder). Thank goodness we all have different gifts and are all different parts of the body of Christ. I am trying to use bible gateway. Maybe that will work.
Amen and love from: Pixie

A little extra I forgot to say

Does anyone know where the passage is that mentions God writing on the hearts of the Gentiles? I wish I could remember better. I have been very ill this year and a byproduct of this illness is lack of memory.

Poor memory affects many people. However, if we can remember that our strength is in Jesus Christ, then He can heal our memory so we can memorize Scripture more accurately and efficiently.

Acts 13:47

For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘ I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

Romans 11:11

I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.

Hello there, yes I am similar in a way. My trouble is actually remembering scriptures accurately, even frequently used ones. I just desperately wanted to know and remember His Word. So I have prayed for the Lord to help me with this and with time I now have scriptures I can remember off by heart. Sometimes I still look it up and double check, just second guessing I suppose, but I usually have it right. And I am also improving in knowing at least where to look in the bible to find a passage, I remember key words from what I have read or heard. So with prayer and effort and help from the Lord it is possible for us to gain some ground in this area.

I concentrate on one scripture at a time. I Write it down on an index card and have it with me or around my home somewhere. And make it my goal to learn it. I start off with a couple of words in the sentence and then keep going back to it and add a couple more and keep on reciting it.
And Book, chapter, verse are just as important to remember as the scripture or passage itself. It really boggled my brain when I started doing this, it is Just part of my brain that wasn't being used or just doesn't work right. It's kind of frustrating, but as Chad said the Lord can heal and He is our Helper.
Another helpful tool is a concordance, so we can look up key words, it really helps alot.

Hello pixie, i think this is the text you were thinking about: it is in 2 Corinthians chapter 3:

1Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

I have found that the simple yet classic prose of the KJV lend themselves with more ease to the memory. I used Gateway word search, however, to find the text you were asking about using the word epistle. The card idea is good; long ago i used to write the first letter of each word in a chapter on a 3x5 card as a kind of prompt to help me.

Understanding the text in the flow of thought of the author is another good way to begin to recall where a passage is. For example try to find out why Paul is saying this to the Corinthians and how it fits into the tone of this second epistle as contrast to the first one. Why is it important in this second epistle that these Corinthians are a sort of heart written commendation epistle that would exclude the necessity of Paul seeking a referral by or from them?

Thank goodness we all have different gifts and are all different parts of the body of Christ.

Yes Pixie Thank the Lord for that! Do you know how some people can take the computer version of a driving learner's test and continously fail and then as soon as they take the old fashioned written version, they past on the first try. We are all different and some of us are more successful in other methods. I downloaded a software on my computer that is really very helpful. It has several methods in teaching you the scripture so that with prayer it is cemented into your heart. Drills, Games, Constant Repeating. One of the methods used delete words from the scripture so that by the time the game is finish all the words are deleted and you know the scripture!!!

-Well I did post the link but I suppose I must read over the rules of the site again because I didnt know I must have 100 posts and ask the administrator's permission.

There are several sites that offer these types of software for free.
If an administrator reads this post and would like me to or maybe they could post the website I would be glad to give them the link.

Thanks and God Bless!!!

Yes pixie, I do have trouble in remembering scriptures, I know parts of the scripture, which does help me. The one that I have memorized is this one.

Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The card system seems an excellent idea in helping us to remember scriptures, a few Psalms would be nice to remember too, especially when we feel a bit low.

Hi Setapart, if the links cannot be put up here, could you please PM me with those links. As anything that would help me in remembering scriptures would be of a great help to me.

Emphasis on the Spirit

I think in regard to this question I would like to lay emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit, I have had that problem some time in my life.
But it get easier when u have a very intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, just like Jesus said in Jn. 17.
I had an experience somedays ago I was about to minister to a friend and I had Isa. 48:19 in mind but when I opened the bible I could not see it, I can't explain it.
but I was led to Gen. 2:15 that was God's message to my Friend.

You are nice Christians

Thanks to all of you for your informative answers. xDicex, that is close to the scripture I am thinking of, but somewhere it said that it will be written on the hearts of the gentiles and I sure like the sound of that.
You all came up with great ideas and I would like to see those links too.
Take care and God bless.:rose:
