Last week I got into some scriptures about giants, unfortunately I got side-tracked into something else, but came across it again today.

Does anyone know anything about these giants that the Bible talks about, were they giant people?

Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Num 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Deu 2:11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.

Deu 2:20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

Deu 3:11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

Deu 3:13 And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.

Jos 12:4 And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

Jos 13:12 All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.

Jos 15:8 And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

Jos 17:15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

Jos 18:16 And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to Enrogel,

Hi Word of Life, yes indeed, these were Giant people that lived in the world, some scholars believe that even Noah and his sons had to be giants in order for them to have built the ark.

Please check your pm as well.

God bless

Quite some time ago I looked at this subject...... But there were giants at the time period mentioned in scripture.

I recall Goliath having four brothers. David took 5 stones from the brook. With the first he slew Goliath.........he had a stone left for each of the other four.....Amen

Noah was not a giant. But he was in truth a righteous man. " Noah was righteous in his generation" Noah was a preacher of righteousness. Any abnormal endeavour re- the building of the ark.......without doubt can be attributed to Noah's God.

Thank you for replying and clearing this up with me. I find this subject rather interesting, so I will delve into it, a bit more.

Hi Stephen, I agree with your words, Noah built the ark only with the help of God, there's no denying that fact. I have seen a few discussions by ministers, evangelists and most of them are creationists as well. And about 2 out of 5 of these men believe that Noah and his family were giants, it's not my own interpretation.

The best thing is, we don't have to speculate about it, we can see through the scripture that Word of Life posted that there were definitely giants that lived in our world.

Much love

A problem.... if the sons of god are angels, how would they copulate with women- they would have no gender, since they do not marry or reproduce.

If they are the holy men, how would that create giants?

If angels can become men, then they must be able to turn back or be stranded on earth... if that were the case, also, it says the war was against MAN- why would we be punished for the angels' actions?

I am still going into this and pulled this off gotquestions.

Question: "Who were the sons of God and daughters of men in Genesis 6:1-4?”

Answer: Genesis 6:1-4 tells us, "When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days -- and also afterward -- when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." There have been several suggestions as to who the sons of God were, and why the children they had with daughters of men grew into a race of giants (that is what the word Nephilim seems to indicate).

The three primary views on the identity of the "sons of God" are that (1) they were fallen angels, or (2) they were powerful human rulers, or (3) they were godly descendants of Seth intermarrying with wicked descendants of Cain. Giving weight to (1) is the fact that in the Old Testament the phrase "sons of God" always refers to angels (Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7). A potential problem with (1) is the fact that Matthew 22:30 indicates that angels do not marry. The Bible gives us no reason to believe that angels have a gender, or are able to reproduce. Views (2) and (3) do not have this problem.

The weakness of views (2) and (3) is that ordinary human males marrying ordinary human females does not account for why the offspring were "giants" or "heroes of old, men of renown." Further, why would God decide to bring the Flood on the earth (Genesis 6:5-7) when God had never forbidden powerful human males or descendants of Seth to marry ordinary human females or descendants of Cain. The oncoming judgment of Genesis 6:5-7 is linked to what took place in Genesis 6:1-4. Only the obscene, perverse marriage of fallen angels with human females would seem to justify such a harsh judgment.

I believe view (1) to be the most likely position. Yes, it is an interesting “contradiction” to say that angels are sexless and then to say that the “sons of God” were fallen angels who procreated with human females. However, while angels are spiritual beings (Hebrews 1:14), they can appear in human, physical form (Mark 16:5). The men of Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to have sex with the two angels who were with Lot (Genesis 19:1-5). It is plausible that angels are capable of taking on human form, even to the point of replicating human sexuality – and possibly even reproduction. Why do the fallen angels not do this more often? It seems that God imprisoned the fallen angels who committed this evil sin, so that the other fallen angels would not do the same (as described in Jude 6). Earlier Hebrew interpreters, apocryphal, and pseudopigriphal writings are unanimous in holding to the view that fallen angels are the "sons of God" mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4. This by no means closes the debate. However, the view that Genesis 6:1-4 involves fallen angels mating with human females has a strong contextual, grammatical, and historical basis.

Word of Life this is a very interesting post. Job is one of the oldest books in the bible, and it seems to confirm that the sons of God were fallen angels. (See Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7) Very interesting stuff here lol. I wish I had been around to see all that. Fallen angels running around with humans... Giants... So cool...

Stephen Quayle, in his book, Aliens & Fallen Angels - The Sexual Corruption of the Human Race, suggests that Satan was interbreeding Nephilim to corrupt every living thing God had made - both human and animal

I guess that is why God made a law for people not to have sex with animals , there must have been people doing that stuff and creating manimals.

The greatest Giant

The greatest giant I know is Manasseh, I hope I have pronounced this mans name right, He at first said NO to almighty God because God told him not to burn babies! At the time the in thing to get the favor of a false god named molech was to burn your baby! Almighty God who rules all eternity told him don't do it Manasseh but he would not listen. So God brought about an army bigger and badder than Israel to capture him and his nation and threw him in a dungeon with shackles upon his wrists and feet. And then Manasseh knew who was the Lord God and pleaded in his heart for forgiveness knowing it was God who he went against! And God heard his prayer and accepted it and got him out of jail and gave him back kingdom and inheritance!
