Medical assistance in dying

Canada has a program called Medical assistance in dying (MAID). As a Christian I'm against it (1COR 6:19-20). I'm ok with pain killers even if they may reduce longevity but reduce suffering during final moments.

Canada has a very expensive taxpayer funded medical system. MAID is being pushed on more and more people who are no longer productive. MAID is rapidly climbing up the list of causes of death. A case that bothered me was a disabled young veteran who requested a wheelchair ramp on their front door but was declined and offered free MAID instead.

This young injured suffering mother was declined treatment but offered free MAID instead (1 minute video).

Governments have already removed freedom of choice for a medical procedure during COVID. How long before MAID is mandated for certain groups of unproductive people?

What are your biblical views on euthanasia as a medical procedure? What are your biblical views on government mandated medical procedures for the greater good?

A Christians views on this are always going to sound crazy. Paul is clear that to die is gain.

Phill 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain''.

A Christian lives to serve God. God keeps us alive for as long as He desires. It can also be for as long as we desire. I firmly believe that you can ask God to extend your life when you chat with Him on your deathbed. Most don't as they see heaven and their old body makes the choice easy.

It is important to properly grasp the above truth because it sheds light on your OP and all similar cases.

No law, doctor and sickness is going to oppose God's will.

-----------

If however you are unsaved, this becomes a completely different matter. Every moment available to convert them is extremely valuable.

-----------

Having said all this, I would avoid all types of euthanasia. When a Christian suffers and keeps their faith and love for Jesus, it produces riches in heaven. God once gave me a vision of Christian suffering likened to a slot machine consistently paying out coins like winning a jackpot. Just think of any relationship you have. How much deeper and richer is it when you see someone else willing to endure suffering for you.

As for the unsaved, when they suffer it usually causes them to examine themselves and make right with God.

Ironically making suffering mostly a good thing.

In UK they have tried before and it was thrown out, this time they did vote and it was denied, they voted against it and they were so devastated, some of the politicians. It's unbelievable. They were talking about doing it until they succeed. It's sick it's human life and no-one has the right to take it. Unfortunately, you're correct,at some point they will get rid of everyone they don't see fit

"Thou shall not murder." is my political opinion lol
But, I live in the United States; I can lawfully back up Truth and also what I say with a sword. Speaking of which:

OT (LSV), 2nd Chronicles 7:14
13 If I restrain the heavens and there is no rain, and if I lay charge on the locust to consume the land, and if I send pestilence among My people;
14 and My people on whom My Name is called are humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I hear from the Heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.

It seems like they are making a united effort for that bill.
Totally agree, you shall not commit murder.
By the way, that goes for unborn babies. When I went to nurse school one of the first things we were told is how the abortions really worked. They usually get a human small human looking like embryo out. In many cases, they told us, it can survive for hours on that cold steel table. And you were expected to just let it lay there. I thought I would never be able to. Even worse they described cruel how they cut the embryo up inside, just with a sharp tool.

I have an unbelieving uncle who last month scheduled MAID. I prayed that he not do it. His brother (a believer) attempted to convince him not to do it. On the day he was scheduled to die at 5PM, he passed from natural causes a few hours earlier that afternoon. I hope God gave him faith and grabbed him early. He wished he could believe like his brother and I but he just couldn't believe.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies.
