A very interesting podcast I found on youtube that is long, but well worth watching if you have questions about Christianity.

Christmas is pagan. Yes. Galatians warns against celebrating times, seasons and other vain traditions.

“...how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain." -- Galatians 4:8-11

"Standfast therefore, in the freedom of which Messiah has made us free and, be not entangled with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1

Which Christianity is True? None of them. There is zero evidence that either Jesus or any author of the Bible is the founder of Christianity, which didn't arise until after 180 AD. True religion is defined in James 1:27, which is not remotely the same as Christianity, especially not modern Christianity.

Early followers of Jesus sometimes called themselves "christians" and other times, followers of "the way". None of them believed in a religion called Christianity, which doesn't exist in the New Testament. The focus of Jesus is on human behavior; how we should treat each other and how we need his help to "have love, one for another." This is not a religion unless one considers caring about other people a religion.

Paul, the author of much of the New Testament and Luke, the largest contributor to the New Testament, never referred to themselves as "christians"; rather, through to the end of Acts, they continue to refer to themselves as followers of "the way", even though they were called "christians" at Antioch apparently by outsiders, as a slur, similar to the "N" word in modern America. When asked by a Roman ruler if he is one of those "christians", Paul seems to deliberately sidestep using the term in his response, perhaps finding it offensive.

When talking to believers in Christ Jesus, I call them Brother or Sister. What do you call them?

I do not self-identify as a Christian, except to those that are not of the faith, or to those who are trying to pigeonhole one to a certain denomination. For I truly believe there is but one church, and that is the Body of Christ with Jesus as the Head. I need no other self-identifier as many do.

As far as it being given to disciples/followers of Jesus Christ being called Christians as a slur, I look at it as Peter says it, If anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed. You are His, and no matter how others see you, you shouldn’t let it wound you deeply. In truth, their opinions matter little, even though it’s natural to want others to like us. Just like you Richard are not from what I can tell concerned about what others think or say about you, why should anyone else be so about you of them? Not at all.

I have no religion, other than I agree with James 1:27. Jesus is not a religion. He came to give us life and to give us life more abundantly. I view religion as placing oneself under laws, rules, regulations and/or vain traditions, which make us less free. The goal of Jesus and his free salvation is to make us more free, "free, indeed," not less free.
