Cherubim and Seraphim - Generally considered the be Angels.
Note: The "-im" simply tells us that we're talking about more than one of these beings.
In Biblical Hebrew, "-im" (ים) is a masculine plural suffix. So:
Now there has been a lot of discussion about where these races of beings came from, some say fallen Angels mated with humans (Gen 6, Jude 6-7). But it's also possible that at least some of these people existed before the time of Genesis 6. I don't really want to argue about that, but it does beg the question.
Did God create these races of non-humans? Let's forget the angelic beings for now and focus on the Giants. If God didn't create them, where did they come from? Also, if God did create them, why does it seem He wanted to eliminate them in several passages in the Bible? It would seem they do not exist today.

- Cherubim = plural of Cherub (כְּרוּב)
- Seraphim = plural of Seraph (שָׂרָף)
Nephilim
- Description: Possibly “fallen ones”; mighty or giant-like men of old.
- Scriptures:
- Genesis 6:1–4 – Present before the flood; associated with the “sons of God.”
- Numbers 13:33 – Spies report seeing Nephilim in Canaan, descendants of Anak.
Anakim
- Description: Descendants of Anak; tall and fearsome warriors.
- Scriptures:
- Numbers 13:28, 33 – Spies fear the Anakim.
- Deuteronomy 1:28; 2:10–11; 9:2 – Described as great and tall.
- Joshua 11:21–22 – Joshua drives them out, except in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod.
Rephaim
- Description: A race of giants; also used poetically for the dead.
- Scriptures:
- Genesis 14:5 – Defeated by Chedorlaomer.
- Deuteronomy 2:11, 20; 3:11, 13 – Og of Bashan is last of the Rephaim.
- Joshua 12:4; 13:12; 15:8 – Their land is conquered.
- Isaiah 14:9; Proverbs 9:18 – Rephaim as “shades” in Sheol.
Emim
- Description: “Terrors”; tall and numerous people.
- Scriptures:
- Deuteronomy 2:10–11 – Lived in Moab; considered Rephaim by others.
Zamzummin
- Description: Tall and numerous; feared by the Ammonites.
- Scriptures:
- Deuteronomy 2:20–21 – Called Rephaim; destroyed by the Ammonites.
Goliath (and his kin)
- Description: Giant warrior from Gath.
- Scriptures:
- 1 Samuel 17:4–7 – Goliath’s height and armor described.
- 2 Samuel 21:15–22; 1 Chronicles 20:4–8 – Other giants from Gath slain by David’s men.
