“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. But they have done this to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’” (John 15:22-25 NASB1995)

The people who hated Jesus, what kinds of evil did they do against him? What were their habits, their practices? In what ways did they persecute Jesus? They lied about him. They mischaracterized him. They accused him of things he did not do and of character traits which were not his to possess. And they hounded and harassed him continually, pulling all kinds of tricks and schemes to try to trap him in their webs of deceit, hoping to trip him up with his words so that they would have cause to accuse him of wrongdoing.

A term for someone who acts like this today might be a narcissist. And the traits vary, depending upon whom you read. But some of these traits are that they are liars, self-obsessed, controlling, selfish, arrogant, cruel, secretive, emotionally shallow, impulsive, lacking in genuine empathy, passive, manipulative, self-important, self-indulgent, and those who play mind games on others, and who use gaslighting to try to frame their targets for things they did not do; to make an innocent person appear guilty.

And that really does describe the people who persecuted Jesus. Another way to describe them, when it comes to the internet, might be trolls. For they are people who intentionally target and respond to some posters with similar methods and tricks and schemes, and with inflammatory remarks and insults and false accusations meant to upset and/or to anger their target, hoping to create chaos and to provoke emotional reactions so that they would have cause to accuse them or to discredit them so others would ignore them.

What Jesus’ persecutors did to him is still being done today by some people who hate Jesus, in truth, for they are doing it to those who love the Lord and who serve the Lord, in truth, and who are teaching the truth and not the lies which are so popularized today. The unrighteous are targeting the righteous with their cruel tricks and schemes because they want to silence them. They want others to hate and reject them, as they do, so that they will not listen to them, and so they will turn away from them and from the truth.

For this really comes down to them hating the truth. And many hate the truth because their deeds are evil, and the truth exposes their evil deeds for what they are. And so they try to find some way to discredit the truth tellers who are following the Lord in obedience, so that others will not believe the truth. And this is what many are doing today who are altering the truth of the gospel to make it more acceptable to human flesh. They are calling the truth tellers “legalists,” “judgmental,” “haters,” and “self-righteous.”

And they are convincing many people that the truth is the lie and that the lie is the truth. And the multitudes are following them for they make no requirements for death to sin and for walks of obedience to our Lord, as necessary components of faith which saves. They convince their listeners that all God requires is that they “believe” in Jesus but without really explaining that belief in Jesus must result in death to sin and walks of obedience to his commands, or it is not faith which results in eternal life.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Your bond is broken with your Lord and Savior
And your testimony is separate from Him.
Your words not matching your actions today.
Repent of your sin and bow down and pray.
Live what you testify in truth always.

Purity’s lacking in your life and witness,
For you profess one thing, but other you do.
Not moral, spiritual. Still of the flesh.
Not living in truth to what you confess.
Lying about it puts you in a mess.

Living a lie is your practice, ‘tis true of you.
Masquerade righteousness – none of it true.
Your heart is not given to your Lord God.
Because of how you live, you are a fraud.
Turn from your sin and give your life to God.

Sometimes it was very people that are spoken of in your words, are we ourselves. It is in those moments where we make judgments on others, without basis or reason.

A great example is the view that is taken among many even here between Catholics and Protestants. How people are brought up over years of negative preaching about Catholics, a type of brainwashing if you will, but automatically sets that the Catholics are going to hell no matter what. And how absurd is that. That without any cause or any reason it's just simply the Catholics are going to hell. And the same thing is true on the Catholic side, or without reason the Protestants are going to hell.

In both cases, this judgment is a sin. An offense to God. What they are all saying is they know what is best for the other person, that the other person should go to hell no matter what. What is that saying about us is that saying that we are now the judge of the other. The judge of our brothers and sisters just because they don't think like we do? If a person calls God his father, and that person is Catholic. And another person who is Protestant calls God his father. Are we not both Children of the same Father? And if a Jew refers to God as his God, is not this God the same God that we all worship? How then is it possible, for the Jews to be considered Hellbound, or the Catholics to be considered Hellbound, or the Protestants to be considered Hellbound?

We are all becoming the offense to God with these unloving characteristics.

Bill, who sets the standard for this? We should not, not in our own flesh, of our own thinking, so you are correct in that. But there is a standard, and it is set by God, and as followers of Christ we are called of God to follow that standard. And that standard is taught us in the Holy Scriptures. We can't just make it up in our own minds to suit our own fleshly purposes. For if we all follow the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we will follow Jesus Christ, for that is who he is, and we will submit ourselves to his will, and we will follow him in obedience to his commands. We will let the Holy Spirit speak truth to our hearts, and we will allow the Lord to change our wrong thinking and believing so that our lives are now in alignment with his will and purpose for our lives. And we will all cease with false judging of one another, and we will judge justly according to the Scriptures taught in their appropriate context. For the Scriptures do teach us God's requirements for us in order for us to be those who are saved from our sins and who have the hope of eternal life with God. And out of love for one another, we should be those who are teaching or sharing the standards that our Lord set down for us to follow in the Scriptures, because we want to see all people saved and on their way to heaven, but according to the truth of the Scriptures, and not according to people's own interpretations, no matter who they are.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and for taking the time to give a kind and respectful response. I appreciate that very much! Sue

What part of God is not God?

If a person loves God, don't they already love Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Didn't you know, it was Jesus who spoke to Abraham.

In the Gospel of John Jesus is revealed to be the Word of God. John 1.

And we know via Jesus, you can not go to the Father but through Jesus.

So all through the Hebrew Scriptures we see Jesus speaking to the Hebrews.

It was Jesus who put His own words onto the Two Stone tablets for Moses.

So i say to you again, what part of God is not God.

The Catholics comprehend the Eucharist being the bread and wine Consecrated. And there is another form of the Eucharist, recieving the Word. This goes back to what i have said, What part of God is not God?

Jesus says this IS My body this IS My blood . And not everyone could handle that teaching. But God understands us, loves us, has compassion for us. You may not comprehend the physical body and blood of Jesus, but you still recieve Him, the spiritual Eucharist, in your heart in the Word.

Thank you, Bill, for taking the time to read and to respond. We are not in agreement on this matter. So we will just leave it at that. Sue

Taking another path.
When i read this,
"For this really comes down to them hating the truth. And many hate the truth because their deeds are evil, and the truth exposes their evil deeds for what they are. I think you will find that the majority of those who are prejudicial to others are not those who are against the truth. It's rather that they have a certain way of looking at the truth and feel that everyone else should follow that way.

I have met people over the years who have started up their own churches, and when I asked him why did they leave their old church. The response is is that the old church doesn't understand them or that they feel that they have a better way than what their old church has. It seems to me that in many cases they don't give their old church the chance to want to even be part of something the spirit leads a person to work on. As an example a man I know started up a Ministry for the homeless in South Bend Indiana. It wasn't that his old church didn't want him to do that. It's just that his old church was in a different area altogether, but his statement to me was that the old church didn't want him to do that. So he separated anyways and now he puts down the old church.

You see he doesn't hate the truth, but he just uses the way in which the spirit leads him to abandon and discredit where he came from in the first place. Instead of accepting the fact that God called someone else to start up that other Church too.

The statement that you refer to of hating the truth would apply to certain individuals like homosexuality. Because we know that God hates that, and churches that teach homosexuality as something that's okay. They are perverting the truth so it matches the way the people want to live

It would seem if a person found fault in a doctrine. God is moving them to try and correct it. In that way many leave to find agreement elsewhere.

There must be heresies as private interpretations knowing we walk by faith after the invisible understnding of the gospel. In that way there must be a good mix of opinions that do not do despite to the fulness of Grace the full price of salvation.

Church the smallest denomination, a family called a nation of two or three

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

In that way not all families are gifted to be used in the gathering of ceremonial laws as a sign to the unbelieving world.

Not as a sign unto oneself dying mankind. Like Aarons two sons who were consumed by the fire of self-righteousness.
