I hope he is more inline with long standing moral truths that Francis avoided for the sake of appeasement of people. I am not so sure that the cardinals meeting in secret and the whole process of picking a new pope is healthy. They should be sequestered separately, and vote supposedly as led by the Holy Spirit, and not with making deals with others that has little to do with the Holy Spirit. But the new pope comes from Chicago, which is one of the most corrupt states of the union, probably in the top 5 most liberal leaning states.
It doesnt mean he is corrupt, but only time will tell where his heart is with the Lord.

My understanding is that he's been living in Peru, although he grew up in Chicago.
I read that he has dual-citizenship, USA and Peru.

Francis asked him to go to Peru, to more or less take over for him when he left to be Pope Francis. Thats not a good sign imo of where he stands on morals that have held firm for more than a 1000 years.

Ummh.
My take on it based on what it means to be a disciple of Christ is this:
(1) We are to obey the laws of the nation
(2) We are to love others and show compassion to the needy, the foreigner, the alien
(3) Sometimes it is not a matter of whether someone is guilty of a crime but what is the posture of
our heart in our response. For example the lady caught in adultery was indeed guilty but Jesus did not stone her.
Daniel was guilty of not honoring the Babylonian law, but God rescued him. Jews were probably guilty of certian crimes
during Hitler's days but many Christians protected and harbored them.
Now I'm in no way at all saying I support open borders or us not having immigrant laws. I think all nations
have to secure their borders, period.
Yet, when I read scripture God's problems with God's people are often less about if they followed laws
but the posture of their heart. And unfortunately I sense very little room for grace, compassion and mercy in much of the messaging around those who carry publicly the name of Christ as it relates to the immigrant issue.
Don't get me wrong and don't misquote me, I'm not saying we should have open borders, I'm just saying the thief on the cross
was guilty of his crime but because of his heart posture he was saved, yet many pharisees committed no laws against the Roman empire
yet they will not be found in paradise.

It was fine with Biden as long as the immigrants were Roman Catholic from South America. It wasn't fine when they were from Ukraine and Greek Orthodox. Think about it.
Chicago and the other big inner cities had too many Roman cathedrals that were empty. Had to fill 'em up somehow.

Are you saying that when Biden was the president he targeted immigrants who were
Roman Catholic from South America?
If that is so, double standards AKA hypocrisy is wrong no matter who does it. We know that
our God is not a respecter of person or one who aligns God's Self with any political party.
It always gets interesting when it comes to politics and religion. It is use a big complicated subject
that requires much wisdom. These are my thoughts on politics and religion.
(1) Christians are called to be modelled citizens and become involved in the process of government
(2) We follow the laws but our ultimate allegiance is to Christ (which sometimes leads to civil disobedience, AKA Daniel, Peter, Moses, etc)
(3) We should not shy away from promoting our Christian values for the welfare of the society
(4) Yet we should know that the final path to changing the heart is not through civic legislation but through the work of the church.
Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox serve the same spirit of the legion many gods in the likeness of men called patron saints .
Venerable puffed up men that lord it over the understanding or faith of the non-venerable pew warmers or show time watchers .

The overwhelming majority of the immigrants were Roman Catholics from South America. I had even predicted that Biden would stop this when the American Roman Catholics met their quota. Look at the distribution data. They were bused and flown into cities to be settled by Catholic Charities.
Roman Catholic Churches in inner cities are dying. The entire project was to revitalize these churches with new people.

1. Obeying the laws of the nation especially means of ANY other nation/country regardless the reason a person is coming to it. NO reason to break immigration laws. NONE.
2. If anyone takes this as a reason for them to break laws and you do so by helping you're not "loving". The standard IS the person coming in, be it a foreigner or anyone here going out of their home country to follow the laws.
3. They are guilty of federal immigration crime by default.
a. Adultery is nowhere near the same as breaking federal immigration laws.
b. Jews killed Jesus among other evils and I do NOT give an expletive what anyone things of me for that.
If borders must be built and laws very "strict" and to keep people out by any means necessary so be it. No?
Look at who's been coming in. Large groups of men. No women. No children.
Also: People with cell phones, clean clothing, and a lot of fat people. Clearly not in dire circumstances.
Were they checked at the border for COVOID (ahem) rebranded flu? No.
Every country has it's own problems. We have our own people to worry about before any foreigner.
Imagine the look on people's face in a food bank line or to get aid who actually needed it while "illegals" get to skip the line.

I don't know of any Catholic that would call Mary God. They do, though, call her the Mother of God, for more than 1,600 years now. (Theotokis.)
